IN the September issue of <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i>, CEO Brent Rutemiller announces a brand new direction for SwimmingWorld.com in this month&#39;s edition of A Voice for the Sport. The column is reprinted below.<\/p>\n<p><i>On Sept. 1, Sports Publications International (SPI), parent corporation of Swimming World Magazine, will combine all of its media properties under one new URL: SwimmingWorld.com.<\/p>\n<p>The new site completes a state-of-the-art platform upgrade that four engineers and two designers have been perfecting over the past five years. All SPI media brands will unite under one roof called Swimming World, located at SwimmingWorld.com.<\/p>\n<p>This one-stop site allows for a more positive and effortless experience for our growing audience of 1.3 million monthly views.<\/p>\n<p>When you visit the new dynamic site, you will discover a fresh look that allows for intuitive navigation between Swimming World sections. The site is divided into six media areas: News, TV, Shop, Magazine, Radio and Commentary. Each medium is dedicated to content directly related to a specific vehicle. Each section has a submenu that explores deeper content.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are researching items reported 50 years ago or are seeking breaking news, SwimmingWorld.com provides it all in a credible, unbiased and independent way.<\/p>\n<p>The first time you land on the new site, you will immediately notice a content player rotating stunning graphics that links to breaking stories. This landing page features current news, videos and streams. Submenus appear below the top navigation bar for viewing results, records, rankings and dedicated news channels. The top 20 stories are quickly found by scrolling down.<\/p>\n<p>When you jump over to SwimmingWorld.TV, the same look and feel appears with a different content player dedicated to current videos. The submenu in this section allows viewers to find shows and events quickly for fast viewing. For instance, under &quot;Shows,&quot; you will find the Morning Swim Show, Split Time, Streamline News and Ready Room. Under &quot;Events,&quot; you will find recent coverage such as the Pan Pacific Games, USA Nationals and the Far Western Age Group Championships.<\/p>\n<p>When you visit our &quot;Shop&quot; section, you will discover this area is on our dated platform, but you will still be able to browse our extensive lists of books, videos and equipment at great prices.<\/p>\n<p>In the &quot;Magazine&quot; section, you will find another unique content player devoted to exclusive magazine articles. The submenu allows users to search for past issues of Swimming World Magazine, dating back to 1960, along with discontinued issues of Swimming Technique and SWIM Magazine. In this same media section, users will be able to view interactive articles, subscribe to Premium content, view past awards and register for newsletters and partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>The &quot;Radio&quot; section has not yet migrated to the new platform; however, viewers can easily search to find exclusive audio interviews with athletes, coaches and officials. Most of these audio interviews can be found on iTunes and will become more prolific in the future as we move this important content to our new look.<\/p>\n<p>The &quot;Commentary&quot; area will continue to evolve, using a combination of old and new technology. Everyone will be able to read the latest comments from our users on posted articles. Traditional users will still be able to log on to Reaction Time to add their comments, while a new system will gradually be implemented throughout the site.
