The Speedo Sectionals series picks back up again this weekend with four stops. The meet in Ithaca hosted by the\u00a0Syracuse Chargers Swim Club has plenty of tight races lined up.<\/p>\n

Portland Porpoise Swim Club’s\u00a0Emily Ecker\u00a0<\/strong>is the distance swimmer to beat this weekend. The 14 year old is the top seed in the 1000 and the 1650 and enters with the second fastest 500 freestyle time.<\/p>\n

Katherine Douglass<\/strong>, the now 15 year old who tore up the pool<\/a> at New York High School<\/a> meets earlier this year is the top seed in the 100 freestyle. Douglass, who is swimming unattached, also leads the way in the 50 freestyle and 200 breaststroke. She is also one of three sub-two minute swimmers in the 200 IM and one of four under 1:50 in the 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n

University of Virginia commit<\/a> Caroline Gmelich<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of Central Jersey Aquatic club has three top three seeds. She is the fastest entrant in the 100 backstroke and is second in the 200 back and 100 butterfly. Gmelich sits just behind Badger’s Quinn Scannell<\/strong>\u00a0in the 200 backstroke. Scannell is third seed in the 100 free and top of the 200 free.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side,\u00a0Andrew Babyak\u00a0<\/strong>of Badger is top seed in the 500 freestyle and second in the 1000. He’ll have a tight race in the longer distance with Upper Valley Aquatic Club’s\u00a0Kristian Hansen<\/strong>, the third seed\u00a0in the 500 and 1650.<\/p>\n

Twenty-seven year old\u00a0Drew Modrov\u00a0<\/strong>dives into the 100 freestyle with a lead of nearly two seconds with a 43.77 seed time. Modrov is also top seed in the 50 and 200 free and 100 and 200 butterfly. Sixteen year old\u00a0Matthew Yish\u00a0<\/strong>of Solo Aquatics is right behind him in the 100 and 200 butterfly events.<\/p>\n

Evan Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>of Laguardia Aquatic Club is the fastest entrant in the 100 breaststroke. He’s also one of three swimmers seeded under two minutes in the 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n
