﻿{"id":248826,"date":"2017-03-25T17:49:12","date_gmt":"2017-03-26T00:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=248826"},"modified":"2021-01-22T21:52:08","modified_gmt":"2021-01-23T04:52:08","slug":"texas-caps-off-ncaa-championships-with-fastest-400-free-relay-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-caps-off-ncaa-championships-with-fastest-400-free-relay-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Caps Off NCAA Championships With Fastest 400 Free Relay Ever (Schooling, Conger Interview)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just in case there was any doubt or who the best team in the pool was at the 2017 NCAA Men&#8217;s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships, Texas capped off their third straight team title with an NCAA and US Open Record in the 400 free relay. <strong>Brett Ringgold<\/strong> (42.06), <strong>Jack Conger<\/strong> (41.30), <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> (41.01) and <strong>Joseph Schooling<\/strong> (41.02) swam the fastest 400 free relay ever with a 2:45.39. That smashed Auburn&#8217;s 2:46.03 from the 2009 NCAA Championships with <strong>Jakub Andkjaer<\/strong>, <strong>Gideon Louw<\/strong>, <strong>Kohlton Norys<\/strong> and <strong>Matt Targett<\/strong> on that relay.<\/p>\n<p>Florida gave Texas all they could handle through three legs as <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> (40.48), <strong>Jan Switkowski<\/strong> (41.50), <strong>Maxime Rooney<\/strong> (42.13) and <strong>Mark Szaranek<\/strong> (42.10) finished second at 2:46.21. Southern California was third at 2:47.33. California, Stanford, Arizona State, NC State and Indiana also swam in the A-final.<\/p>\n<p>Dressel (40.48), Haas (41.01), Schooling (41.02) and Southern Cal&#8217;s <strong>Dylan Carter<\/strong> (41.10) had the fastest splits across the board.<\/p>\n<p>Texas now has nine NCAA titles in the 400 free relay.
