At the conclusion of the men’s NCAA championships, Texas head coach\u00a0Eddie Reese<\/strong> discussed the Longhorns’ third straight NCAA title in video interviews with\u00a0Swimming World<\/em>.<\/p>\n

During the interview with Reese, the coach revealed that\u00a0Joseph Schooling\u00a0<\/strong>became sick after his 100 fly prelim swim and still decided to give the 200 fly a go. Reese did not give any more details on the illness. Schooling was the two-time defending champion in the 200 fly, but he finished 37th in prelims.<\/p>\n

Schooling, however, ended up being healthy enough to split a 41.02 on Texas’ meet-ending and victorious 400 free relay.<\/p>\n

Reese also reflected on his three seniors that broke records (Will<\/strong>\u00a0Licon<\/strong>, Clark Smith<\/strong> and\u00a0Jack Conger<\/strong>) and explained why each NCAA championship feels different.<\/p>\n
