Murphy stopped the clock at a 1:38.22 to set a new pool record on his way to the top seed.<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Patrick Mulcare\u00a0<\/strong>posted a close 1:38.56 to pick up the second place seed, while Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>John Shebat\u00a0<\/strong>qualified third with a 1:38.67.
