But after this morning, Alabama&#8217;s <strong>Connor Oslin<\/strong> and Texas&#8217; <strong>John Shebat<\/strong> looked dangerous in pulling a major upset. But in the end, it was Murphy who swam the third fastest 100 back in history at 43.99 for his fourth straight win in the event. Shebat was second at 44.35 for third all-time in the event. Oslin was third at 44.56, good for fifth all-time.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy is only the second swimmer ever to win four straight 100 back titles as USC&#8217;s <strong>John Naber<\/strong> won four in a row from 1974-1977. Murphy will have another chance tomorrow to win four straight in the 200 back. Alabama&#8217;s <strong>Luke Kaliszak<\/strong>, USC&#8217;s <strong>Ralf Tribuntsov<\/strong>, Penn State&#8217;s <strong>Shane Ryan<\/strong>, Louisville&#8217;s <strong>Grigory Tarasevich<\/strong> and NC State&#8217;s <strong>Andreas Vazaios<\/strong> also swam in the A-final.<\/p>\n<p>California now has six NCAA titles in the 100 back.
