Just six days later, it looked like deja vu. Seven guys turned dead even at the 175 in the 200 IM on Thursday night at the men&#8217;s meet.<\/p>\n<p>It looked like Cal&#8217;s<strong> Ryan Murphy<\/strong> would steal the show with a win on the outside, but it was Florida&#8217;s <strong>Mark Szaranek<\/strong> and Texas&#8217; <strong>Will Licon<\/strong> who out-touched Murphy at the finish. The duo touched at 1:40.67 ahead of Murphy&#8217;s 1:40.73. Licon seemed out of the race at the 100 when he turned in 8th place, but he used his 27.96 breaststroke split, a second ahead of the next fastest Chase Kalisz (28.86), to surge to the front.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hear from Szaranek post race:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mark Szaranek, Florida\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LK1TlQiTDpY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Gunnar Bentz<\/strong>, <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong>, <strong>Andrew Seliskar<\/strong>, <strong>Andreas Vazaios<\/strong> and <strong>Jon Roberts<\/strong> also swam in the A-final. Szaranek now moves up to 9th all-time in the 200 IM, while Murphy and Bentz are now right behind him at 10th and 12th respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Texas (140.5) has extended its lead over now second place Florida (96.5). NC State is now in third (96) and Cal is in fourth (91).<\/p>\n<p>Licon is now the first swimmer to repeat in the 200 IM since <strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong> won in 2005 and 2006. Texas now has four 200 IM NCAA titles with Licon (2016), <strong>Austin Surhoff<\/strong> (2010) and <strong>Nate Dusing<\/strong> (2001). Florida now has eight 200 IM titles.
