MARLENE Pineda, a 2008 graduate of Smith College and recent addition to the Harvard women&#39;s swimming and diving coaching staff, was struck by a car and killed Monday afternoon in a bicycle accident in Brighton.  <\/p>\n<p>A native of Bosque Farms, N.M., Pineda served for two years as the assistant varsity swim coach and head masters swim coach at Smith. She had 15 years of competitive swimming experience, specializing in distance and butterfly, and was a two-time captain and conference champion at Smith. Pineda graduated with a B.A. in education and a master&#39;s degree in exercise and sports studies with a focus in coaching.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Marly was a remarkable woman,&quot; said Stephanie Wriede Morawski, The Costin Family Head Coach for Harvard Women&#39;s Swimming and Diving. &quot;I hired her not only because I saw her potential as a coach, but, more importantly, because of her integrity and character.  Marly truly cared about others and had a way of bringing out the best in those around her.
