Two long time former collegiate swimming coaches with Division I experience totaling over 40 years have started a new company designed to help high school student\/athletes and their families through the entire recruiting process.<\/p>\n<p>Cal Bentz and Rick Paine have created American College Connection, Inc. and are offering their services, at no cost, to the displaced student\/athletes at Iowa State and Nebraska, colleges that have decided to drop men\u2019s swimming.  The offer will also be extended to Kansas students should that school drop men&#39;s swimming.  Originally KU announced it was dropping the sport, but an overwhelming response by students, alumni, citizens and legislators have kept hopes alive that the administration would reverse that decision.  Yesterday&#39;s resignation of the school&#39;s Athletic Director&#8211;who engineered the decision&#8211;buttressed those hopes.<\/p>\n<p>Benz and Paine are asking all college swim coaches to visit their website,<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.americancollegeconnection.com<br \/>\nto view the profile information on &quot;an outstanding group of young people who would enhance any program they swam for.&quot; Each athlete\u2019s profile contains all pertinent information required by coaches. <\/p>\n<p>ACC specializes in swimming, diving and water polo and is designed to provide much needed guidance to prospective student\/athletes and their parents during the college recruiting process. The company&#39;s service is designed to get the prospective student\/athlete\u2019s information in front of many coaches, help each prospect and his\/her parents understand the recruiting process, identify schools that have athletic scholarships available and provide the prospect and his or her family with many viable choices. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;We are offering athletes and their parents 43 years of experience in college coaching and recruiting,&quot; said Bentz.<\/p>\n<p>ACC\u2019s services are designed to cut the recruiting time in half by providing pertinent information to coaches that will help them identify, locate and verify potential recruits. By utilizing a more efficient recruiting process, coaches could reduce their recruiting expenses by 50%.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We hope that by providing college programs with a way of saving money it will be a strong positive step in helping collegiate swimming grow and prosper\u2026..not just survive,&quot; said co-founder, Rick Paine.<\/p>\n<p>To get connected, athletes and their parents should log on to:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.americancollegeconnection.com<br \/>\nor call (402) 486-3888<\/p>\n<p>NCAA rules prohibit a company from placing or marketing a prospect to a specific institution and from guaranteeing or negotiating financial aid.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Bentz and Coach Paine will be conducting an open discussion for parents on the state of men\u2019s collegiate swimming on Friday, May 18 from 2:30- 4 pm in Ft. Collins, Colorado at the University Park Holiday Inn, 425 W. Prospect Ave. in the Utah room. Parents will be able to ask questions.
