Ultimately, King fell short of the record, but defended her title from last year, becoming the first person to do so since Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s <strong>Breeja Larson<\/strong> won three straight from 2012-2014.<\/p>\n<p>Lilly King&#8217;s interview can be seen here<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Lilly King, Indiana\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/97eHReRrfi0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The battle behind King was very tight as it was freshman <strong>Lindsey Horejsi<\/strong> in second at 58.03 and Virginia&#8217;s <strong>Laura Simon<\/strong> was third at 58.20. Horejsi is now the 8th fastest performer in history and Simon moves into a tie for 15th all time with <strong>Katie Meili<\/strong>. Florida State&#8217;s <strong>Natalie Pierce<\/strong>, who lost her cap before the 75 turn, ended up fourth at 58.25.
