The 2017 Speedo Sectionals in Iowa City continued with\u00a0Zoe Bartel<\/strong> and\u00a0Alexei Sancov<\/strong> picking up two victories each.<\/p>\n

Gillian Davey\u00a0<\/strong>of CIA turned in the top time in the women’s 400 IM with a final time of 4:14.47, dropping 9.11 seconds off her prelims time of 4:28.58. FAST’s\u00a0Coleen Gillilan\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close second with a 4:15.29, followed by DDST’s\u00a0Emma Theobald’s\u00a0<\/strong>4:20.01.<\/p>\n

FAST swept the podium in the women’s 50 free, led by\u00a0Kylee Alons<\/strong>. Alons posted the only sub-23 second swim of the evening with a 22.70. Her time sits as the new meet record, dashing past the 22.75 she set earlier in the meet. Teammates\u00a0Zoe Bartel\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Coleen Gillilan<\/strong> picked up second and third with times of 23.03 and 23.11.<\/p>\n

Bartel returned not long after to dominate the competition in the women’s 200 breast, finishing more than four seconds ahead of the competition with a 2:08.11. Bartel’s time over-turned her own meet record of 2:09.45, which she had set earlier in the day. Davey was second overall with a 2:12.85, followed closely by Gillilan’s 2:12.95.<\/p>\n

Sancov later added a gold medal in the men’s 500 free with a winning time of 4:24.88, slashing 8.94 seconds off his prelims time of 4:33.82. Sancov’s time broke a 12-year old meet record of 4:27.51 from 2005. Chicago Wolfpack’s\u00a0Jacob Furlong<\/strong> picked up second with a final time of 4:27.53, just ahead of Black Hawk Area’s\u00a0Dylan Moffatt<\/strong> and his time of 4:29.76.<\/p>\n
