Teammates <strong>Sophie<\/strong> <strong>Lindner<\/strong>, <strong>Stephanie<\/strong> <strong>Nelson<\/strong>, and <strong>Jane Donahue<\/strong>\u00a0were also included in the top 10 finishers.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Noah<\/strong> <strong>Hensley<\/strong> was the winner in the men&#8217;s event over\u00a0Cardinal Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicolas<\/strong> <strong>Albiero<\/strong>, with a time of 46.93. Albiero was second in 47.74, and teammate DeMercurio swam a 49.40 for third place.<\/p>\n<p>SwimMAC Carolina&#8217;s <strong>Julia<\/strong> <strong>Menkhaus<\/strong> continued her outstanding meet, garnering first-place honors<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the women&#8217;s 200-yard butterfly to start off the meet, against some stiff competition. She finished in a time of 1:58.98 to second-place <strong>Elysse<\/strong> <strong>Pardus<\/strong> of South Carolina Swim Club&#8217;s 1:59.84. Third place <strong>Lindsay<\/strong> <strong>Cohee<\/strong> of SwimMAC came in just shy of under two minutes in 2:00.02.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville-bound senior Albiero swam a time of 1:43.53, good for first place by four seconds and the twelfth all-time performance in the 17-18 age group for the event. SwimMAC&#8217;s <strong>Talmadge<\/strong> <strong>Davis<\/strong>\u00a0finished in second place with a time of 1:47.85, and\u00a0<strong>Seth<\/strong> <strong>Kyriakidis<\/strong>\u00a0of Ensworth Aquatic Club dropped three seconds from his prelims time for\u00a0a third-place performance of 1:48.69.<\/p>\n<p>Next came the sprint event of the evening, the 50 freestyle, in which\u00a0Georgia club teams dominated on the women&#8217;s side. <strong>Danielle<\/strong> <strong>Dellatorre<\/strong> of Athens Bulldog Swim Club sprinted to a 23.03 for first place.\u00a0<strong>Julie<\/strong> <strong>Woody<\/strong> of Savannah Swim Team was behind in 23.10, out-touching third place <strong>Emma<\/strong> <strong>Cole<\/strong> of Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club by 0.01.<\/p>\n<p>SwimMAC&#8217;s <strong>William<\/strong> <strong>Chan<\/strong> overtook Albiero in the men&#8217;s 50 freestyle, stopping the clock in a quick 20.14 to Albiero&#8217;s 20.23. Jacob DeMercurio finished third in the event with a time of 20.56.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 200-yard breaststroke saw some fast swims, SwimMAC&#8217;s Donahue\u00a0coming out on top in 2:12.84. Unattached <strong>Bethany<\/strong> <strong>Leap&#8217;s<\/strong> time of 2:13.32 was good for second place, and Donahue&#8217;s 16-year-old teammate <strong>Lillian<\/strong> <strong>Higgs<\/strong> finished third in 2:14.08.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SwimMAC went 1-2-3 in the men&#8217;s breaststroke, with Chan stepping\u00a0right back up to the blocks and blasting a 1:59.08 for first place, just ahead of teammate <strong>Lucas<\/strong> <strong>Johnson<\/strong>&#8216;s 1:59.46. <strong>Colson<\/strong> <strong>Zucker<\/strong> was third with a 2:02.26.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 500 freestyle was a tight race, with Larson just out-touching 15-year-old <strong>Eleanor<\/strong> <strong>Marquardt<\/strong> of Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg in 4:53.30 to Marquardt&#8217;s 4:53.36. Third was Chattahoochee Gold&#8217;s <strong>Bayler Frierson<\/strong> in 4:55.22.<\/p>\n<p>To finish off the evening, <strong>Curtis<\/strong> <strong>Wiltsey<\/strong> of SwimMAC dropped a 4:27.14 for first place in the men&#8217;s 500. <strong>Konstantinos<\/strong> <strong>Siokos<\/strong> was second, stopping the clock in 4:27.99, and <strong>John Frith<\/strong> of New South Swimming was third in 4:30.13.<\/p>\n<p>Competition will pick back up tomorrow morning for prelims, and tomorrow night at 6pm for the last night of finals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speedo Sectionals competition resumed at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina this evening.
