RYAN Lochte&#39;s participation in the individual medleys at the 2010 USA Swimming national championships is in jeopardy, as the world record holder announced today during the taping of an interview for <i>The Morning Swim Show<\/i> that he suffered a groin pull that has hampered his ability to do breaststroke kick. <\/p>\n<p>Lochte told Garrett McCaffrey that he might still be able to swim the IMs in Irvine, Calif., but he won&#39;t make that decision until race day.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I&#39;m back to not being able to do breaststroke,&quot; said Lochte, the world champion in both IMs, in the interview.  &quot;I&#39;m going to stay with the trainer all the way up until nationals, and then hopefully it&#39;ll get better by then \u2026 and I can do IM. If not, there&#39;s other events I can do, so either way we&#39;ll see how that goes.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>This comes just a couple of weeks after Lochte swam his first IM races since the world championships at the USA Swimming sectionals in his home pool in Gainesville, Fla. Lochte had been recovering from knee surgery done last fall. His times in the IMs at the sectional meet \u2013 1:59.35 in the 200 and 4:16.91 in the 400 \u2013 put him among the top 20 in the world and in the top three in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Lochte&#39;s full interview on <i>The Morning Swim Show<\/i> will stream on <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworld.com>SwimmingWorld.com<\/a> beginning at midnight Pacific time Friday, July 23.<\/p>\n<p>Watch Lochte&#39;s comments on his groin injury in the video player below.
