The 2017 Speedo Sectionals series will continue this weekend, March 9th-12th, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Teams from Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia will be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Southern powerhouse club team SwimMAC Carolina will be looking to dominate at the meet, holding 12 top seeds in individual events and the top seed in every relay.<\/p>\n

Some names from SwimMAC to watch for include breaststroker\u00a0William Chan<\/strong>,\u00a0coming\u00a0in with a time of 53.99 in the 100 distance, a full second and a half ahead of the second-place seed. He is also the only swimmer under 2:00.00 in the 200 distance, with a 1:58.93.<\/p>\n

His teammate\u00a0Julia Menkhaus<\/strong>\u00a0will be the butterflyer and IMer to beat this weekend. She holds three individual top seeds, in the 100 and 200 butterfly events and the 400 IM. She also comes in within the top 16 of three other individual events.<\/p>\n

Sinclair Larson<\/strong> will be another fantastic contributor to\u00a0Carolina’s depth, as she appears within the top eight for six of her individual events, and is the top seed heading into the women’s 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n

Emma Cole<\/strong>, Georgia high school standout from Chattahoochee, will be the one to watch in the women’s sprint freestyle, as she holds the top time in the 50 (22.69) and the 200 (1:46.03), and the second-best time in the 100 with a 49.30.<\/p>\n

South Carolina’s Greenville boasts\u00a0top performer Talmadge Davis<\/strong>, who shows his versatility by leading the way\u00a0in both the men’s 200 and 1650 freestyle, faster in the latter by only two seconds to New South’s John Frith<\/strong>. The 1650 should be a great race to watch between these two.<\/p>\n

Lastly, another SwimMAC challenger comes in\u00a0Kentucky’s Nicolas Albiero<\/strong>. He occupies the top seed in a handful of events by solid margins, including the 200 and 400 IM, 100 and 200 butterfly, and 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n

The meet starts Thursday night at 6pm with the women’s 1000 and men’s 1650 freestyle.<\/p>\n
