THE age group Independence Day Swimvitational concluded with big wins for local South Dakota teams, including host team Rapid City Racers.  The long course event took place July 2-4 at the Horace Mann Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple winners for host team Rapid City Racers included:  Tamara Gorman (13-14 1500 Freestyle \u2014 18:41.73, 200 Freestyle \u2014 2:15.66; 400 Freestyle \u2014 4:48.09), Brian Gorman (17-19 1500 Freestyle \u2014 17:09.97, 200 Freestyle \u2014 2:04.05, 200 Backstroke \u2014 2:18.87, 400 Freestyle \u2014 4:24.30; 400 IM \u2014 5:09.62), Jackie Beagle (15-16 200 IM \u2014 2:30.91, 50 Freestyle \u2014 28.71, 200 Backstroke \u2014 2:3027, 400 IM \u2014 5:27.34, 100 Freestyle \u2014 1:02.70; 400 Freestyle \u2014 6:03.99), Sarah Morgan (13-14 200 Backstroke \u2014 2:30.38, 100 Backstroke \u2014 1:11.05; 400 IM \u2014 5:29.02), Ty Conklin (9-10 100 Breaststroke \u2014 1:54.80, 100 Freestyle \u2014 1:20.66; 50 Backstroke \u2014 42.46), and Iliana Jones (13-14 100 Breaststroke \u20141:27.49; 200 Breaststroke \u2014 3:06.16). <\/p>\n<p>The Rapid City Racers also swept the top spots in the boy&#39;s 13-14 50 LCM freestyle, with Ben Sieve (29.21) taking the top spot, followed by Reed Ellefson (35.70) and Jonathan Vottero (37.48).<\/p>\n<p>The relay events also saw success and upsets.  The Pierre Swim Team (2:19.21) edged out the Gillette Swim Team (2:22.61) to take the win in the 200 Freestyle Relay.  Sheridan Swim Team squad was third with a time of 2:39.88.  <\/p>\n<p>Even though Gillette Swim Team took second, they placed first in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:38.16.  Pierre Swim Team took second with 2:44.84, while the Black Hills Gold Swim Team (2:48.65) took third.<\/p>\n<p>Host team Rapid City Racers took first place in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:30.99.  Gillette Swim Team followed with 5:06.19; Casper Swim Club placed third with 5:19.28.  The Rapid City Racers \u2018A&#39; (3:25.29) and \u2018B&#39; (4:33.97) squad finished first and second, respectively, in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
