DURING the third evening of long course meter swimming at the NBAC Mid Summer Classic, Michael Phelps put up another quick time on the scoreboard for the fans in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps nearly cleared his season best in the men&#39;s 200 fly with a winning effort of 1:55.95. That time just missed his fourth-ranked season best of 1:55.70 set at the Paris Open in June. Todd Patrick took second in 2:00.20, while Mike Thomas earned third in 2:07.00. Cari Czarnecki touched out Andi Staub, 2:18.00 to 2:18.34. Karie Haglund also cleared 2:19 with a third-place 2:18.84. <\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Pelton checked in with a 2:14.76 in the women&#39;s 200 IM. Rachael Schaffer finished second in 2:17.78, while Stephanie O&#39;Toole pocketed third-place honors in 2:18.84. Kevin Webster won the men&#39;s 200 IM in 2:06.82, while Drew Cosgarea touched second in 2:07.86. Brennan Morris completed the top three in 2:08.93. <\/p>\n<p>Giles Smith topped the men&#39;s 50 free in 23.83, while Patrick Murphy earned second in 24.47. Ellis Miller snagged third in 24.62. Results from the women&#39;s 50 free were not made available.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy topped the men&#39;s 100 back in 57.37 with Miller taking second in 58.83. Bryan Offutt snatched third with a 1:00.23. Felicia Lee won the women&#39;s 100 back in 1:02.92, while Allison Schmitt (1:04.96) and Natalie Beale (1:05.81) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas snatched his second podium of the night with a 4:05.74 to win the men&#39;s 400 free. Rodney Fentress placed second in 4:07.41, while Chase Kalisz took third in 4:12.76. Willa Wang captured the women&#39;s 400 free in 4:14.98.
