The 2017 MAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Southern Illinois University concluded today.<\/p>\n

Eastern Michigan won their third-consecutive MAC team title with 717 points. They beat Missouri State by one point to claim their 34th overall Championship crown.<\/p>\n

2017 Men’s MAC Championships Full Results – Results<\/a><\/p>\n

1650<\/h2>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Antonio Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the men’s mile and won by 16 seconds. The freshman finished in 14:56.02 to set a new pool and league record.<\/p>\n

Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Kyle Lichtenberg\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 15:12.04 and Missouri State’s\u00a0Minki Kang\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 15:24.13.<\/p>\n

Southern Illinois’\u00a0Michael Wolfe\u00a0<\/strong>(15:27.62), Buffalo’s\u00a0Charles Barry\u00a0<\/strong>(15:33.37), Southern Illinois’\u00a0Kevin Kluge\u00a0<\/strong>(15:43.00), Southern Illinois’\u00a0Nolan Fahey\u00a0<\/strong>(15:48.56), and Southern Illinois’\u00a0Christopher Cole\u00a0<\/strong>(15:55.71) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n

200 Back<\/h2>\n

Eastern Michigan swept the 200 back, led by\u00a0Tosh Kawaguchi.<\/strong>\u00a0The sophomore\u00a0<\/strong>finished first in 1:44.73.<\/p>\n

His teammates\u00a0Cole Bateman\u00a0<\/strong>(1:45.06) and\u00a0Matan Segal\u00a0<\/strong>(1:45.86) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Hudson Carroll\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.00), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0James Wray\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.06), Southern Illinois’\u00a0Alex Crawford\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.15), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Ricky Perez\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.41), and Buffalo’s\u00a0Joey Puglessi\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.62) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

100 Free<\/h2>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Mason Miller\u00a0<\/strong>won his third individual MAC title this weekend, this time in the 100 free. The sophomore cruised to first in 44.03.<\/p>\n

Southern Illinois’\u00a0Andre Luiz Brilhante\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 44.56 and\u00a0Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Jake Tyson\u00a0<\/strong>took a close third in 44.57.<\/p>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Eric Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>(44.73), Missouri State’s\u00a0Sean Senn<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(45.07), Missouri State’s\u00a0Will Brand<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(45.18), Missouri State’s\u00a0Michael Mollack<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(45.71),and Buffalo’s\u00a0Martin Leigh\u00a0<\/strong>(45.84) also swam in the A-Final.<\/p>\n

200 Breast<\/h2>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Phillip Willett\u00a0<\/strong>won a close 200 breast race in 1:57.07, using a strong last 50 to surpass the runner-up to set a new pool record.<\/p>\n

Southern Illinois’\u00a0Bobby Wood\u00a0<\/strong>took a close second in 1:57.13 and Missouri State’s\u00a0Christopher Heye\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 1:57.84.<\/p>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Garrett Clarke\u00a0<\/strong>(1:57.95), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Nicholas Wukovits\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.37), Buffalo’s\u00a0Itai De La Vega\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.53), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Hutch Blackstone\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.57), and Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Aaron Hendry\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.02) completed the final heat.<\/p>\n

200 Fly<\/h2>\n

Southern Illinois’\u00a0Filippo Dell’Olio\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 fly by over one second, touching first in 1:45.55. The senior won his second-straight MAC title in this event and broke\u00a0the league and meet record.<\/p>\n

Second place went to Missouri State’s\u00a0Kacper Cwiek<\/strong>\u00a0in 1:46.56 and third place went to Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Logan Burton\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:46.98.<\/p>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Artur Osvath\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.53), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Ross Rybakowicz\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.25), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Alexander Arrieta\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.35), Missouri State’s\u00a0Ethan Bresette\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.87), and Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Hunter Cook\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.65) rounded out the top heat.<\/p>\n

3m Diving<\/h2>\n

Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Alex Chan\u00a0<\/strong>swept both diving events this weekend after winning the 3m tonight. The senior won his fourth-straight MAC title in this event with a score of 422.75.<\/p>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Troy Birdsall\u00a0<\/strong>dove to second with a score of 363.30 and Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Daniel Gironza\u00a0<\/strong>took third with 357.20 points.<\/p>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Nick Rodriquez\u00a0<\/strong>(344.70), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Thomas Gillis\u00a0<\/strong>(337.50), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Noah Galluzzo\u00a0<\/strong>(326.60), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Peter Rusenas\u00a0<\/strong>(320.85), and Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Ryan Nash\u00a0<\/strong>(307.10) also dove in the final heat.<\/p>\n

400 Free Relay<\/h2>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Eric Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>(45.14),\u00a0Hudson Carroll\u00a0<\/strong>(45.96),\u00a0Martin Leigh\u00a0<\/strong>(44.23). and\u00a0Mason Miller\u00a0<\/strong>(43.11) concluded the meet by winning gold in the 400 free relay. They finished in 2:58.44.<\/p>\n

Missouri State finished second in 2:59.13 and Eastern Michigan took third in 3:00.32.<\/p>\n
