Buffalo won four events on night three of the 2017 MAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Two Buffalo swimmers set meet and league records.<\/p>\n

2017 MAC Men’s Championships Day 3 Finals – Results<\/a><\/p>\n

400 IM<\/h2>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Phillip Willett\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 400 IM to begin day three. The sophomore stopped the clock in 3:46.67, over three seconds ahead of the rest of the field to set a new pool record.<\/p>\n

Southern Illinois’\u00a0Filippo Dell’Onio\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 3:49.98 and Missouri State’s\u00a0Christopher Heye\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 3:50.61.<\/p>\n

Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Nicholas Wukovits\u00a0<\/strong>(3:53.22), Buffalo’s\u00a0Charles Barry\u00a0<\/strong>(3:53.33), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Kyle Lichtenberg\u00a0<\/strong>(3:53.36), Buffalo’s\u00a0Scott Huang\u00a0<\/strong>(3:56.74), and Missouri State’s\u00a0Ethan Bresette\u00a0<\/strong>(3:57.32) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

100 Fly<\/h2>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Mason Miller\u00a0<\/strong>won his second individual event of the weekend after taking the 100 fly title tonight. The sophomore narrowly won in 46.66 to defend his MAC title. His time also broke the meet record set last year and the league record set back in 1999.<\/p>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Artur Osvath\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close second in 46.94 and Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Logan Burton\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 47.63.<\/p>\n

Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Iago Moussalem do Amaral\u00a0<\/strong>(47.75), Southern Illinois’\u00a0Joao Facciotti\u00a0<\/strong>(48.13), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Connor Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>(49.00), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Pete Simcox\u00a0<\/strong>(49.34), and Missouri State’s\u00a0Preston Selby\u00a0<\/strong>(49.49) also swam in the A-Final.<\/p>\n

200 Free<\/h2>\n

Southern Illinois’\u00a0Andre Luiz Brilhante\u00a0<\/strong>won a very close\u00a0200 free final as the top six swimmers were separated by 0.35. The senior got his hand on the wall first in 1:37.40.<\/p>\n

Second place went to Missouri State’s\u00a0Kacper Cwiek\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:37.43 and third place went to Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Lucas Brock\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:37.47.<\/p>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Michael Mollak\u00a0<\/strong>(1:37.55), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Jake Tyson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:37.70), Missouri State’s\u00a0Will Brand\u00a0<\/strong>(1:37.75), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Justin\u00a0Andrews\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.27), and Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Jack Strauss\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.68) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

100 Breast<\/h2>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Itai De La Vega\u00a0<\/strong>defended his MAC title in the 100 breast, winning the event in 53.61 for the second-straight year. His time broke his own meet and league record set at this meet last year.<\/p>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Uldis Tazans <\/strong>took second in\u00a053.98 and Buffalo’s\u00a0Garrett Clarke\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 54.23.<\/p>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Nicholas Theunissen\u00a0<\/strong>(54.48), Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0Hutch Blackstone\u00a0<\/strong>(54.62), Buffalo’s\u00a0Luke Otto\u00a0<\/strong>(54.65), Southern-Illinois’\u00a0Bobby Wood\u00a0<\/strong>(54.76), and Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Aaron Hendry\u00a0<\/strong>(56.32) also swam in the final heat.<\/p>\n

100 Back<\/h2>\n

Buffalo’s\u00a0Hudson Carroll\u00a0<\/strong>just out-touched the runner-up by .01 to win the 100 back. The junior, who finished fourth in this event last year, won in 48.12.<\/p>\n

Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Cole Bateman\u00a0<\/strong>took a close second in 48.13 while his teammate\u00a0Tosh Kawaguchi\u00a0<\/strong>swam to third in 48.58.<\/p>\n

Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0James Wray\u00a0<\/strong>(48.75), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Logan Burton\u00a0<\/strong>(48.83), Missouri State’s\u00a0Conner Ripp\u00a0<\/strong>(48.85), Eastern Michigan’s\u00a0Matan Segal\u00a0<\/strong>(49.11), and Missouri State’s\u00a0Preston Selby\u00a0<\/strong>(49.50) completed the A-Final.<\/p>\n

400 Medley Relay<\/h2>\n

Buffalo won the final event of the evening. The team of Carroll (48.56), De La Vega (54.21), Miller (46.00), and\u00a0Martin leigh\u00a0<\/strong>(44.29) posted a time of 3:13.06.<\/p>\n

Missouri State’s\u00a0Conner Ripp\u00a0<\/strong>(48.96),\u00a0Uldis Tazans\u00a0<\/strong>(53.99), Osvath (46.43), and\u00a0Samuel Senn\u00a0<\/strong>(44.30) took second in 3:13.68 and Miami-Ohio’s\u00a0James Wray\u00a0<\/strong>(49.19),\u00a0Hutch Blackstone\u00a0<\/strong>(54.03), Moussalem de Amaral (47.30), and\u00a0Nick Ward\u00a0<\/strong>(44.32) finished third in 3:14.84.<\/p>\n
