BALTIMORE, Maryland, June 14. The North Baltimore Long Course Championships came to a close with the host club's Felicia Lee and Todd Patrick posting impressive victories in the 100 free. Meanwhile, superstar Michael Phelps posted strong swims in the preliminary session before scratching finals.<\/p>\n
Phelps led preliminaries in the 100 free, where he clocked 50.67, as well as the 200 back, checking in at 2:00.30. Patrick benefited the most from Phelps' scratch in the 100 free, posting a strong time of 51.07 for first place.<\/p>\n
Lee upstaged teammates Elizabeth Pelton and Allison Schmitt, both members of the U.S. World Championships team, to win the 100 free. Lee clocked 56.14, ahead of Pelton's 57.33 and Schmitt's 58.33. Earlier in the night, Pelton had finished first in the 200 breast, where she posted a 2:40.93.<\/p>\n
Olympian Scott Spann, also of North Baltimore, dominated the 200 breast, clocking 2:15.59. Notably, the time pushed him to the fourth-fastest American in the event this year, behind Eric Shanteau, Elliot Keefer, and Mike Alexandrov.<\/p>\n
