A pair of pool and meet records tumbled during the third night of long course meter swimming at the TYR Swim Meet of Champions.<\/p>\n<p>Trojan&#39;s Katinka Hosszu blazed the women&#39;s 400 IM race with a meet and pool record.  She scorched the facility with a 4:36.93 to lower Kristen Caverly&#39;s 2004 meet mark of 4:43.73, while also taking down the pool record of 4:43.32 set by Kristine Quance way back in 1992. The time also jumped Hosszu up to fifth in the world.  Only China&#39;s Li Xuanxu (4:34.59), Australia&#39;s Stephanie Rice (4:35.04), Great Britain&#39;s Hannah Miley (4:35.06) and Spain&#39;s Mireia Belmonte (4:36.31) have been faster this year. Trojan teammate Lyndsay De Paul took a distant second in 4:50.00, while Sierra Marlins&#39; Haley Anderson placed third in 4:52.61. A pair of 13-year-olds also made the A final as Novaquatics&#39; Ella Eastin (4:59.49) and Claremont&#39;s Sonia Wang (5:02.00) finished fifth and seventh. <\/p>\n<p>FAST&#39;s Tyler Clary continued what has been an incredible meet thus far with a pool and meet record in the men&#39;s 400 IM.  He checked in with a 4:19.46 to drop the 4:20.06 set by Susumu Tabuchi at the 2000 TYR Swim Meet of Champions. Minnesota&#39;s Alex Wold took second overall in 4:30.44, while FAST&#39;s Chip Peterson claimed third in 4:32.58. <\/p>\n<p>Mission Viejo&#39;s Chloe Sutton kept on rolling with another freestyle triumph. This time in the women&#39;s 200 free, she hit the wall in 2:00.40 as she just knocked off FAST&#39;s Kate Ziegler.  Ziegler turned on the afterburners just a bit too late and settled for second with 2:00.72 even though she out-split Sutton, 29.92 to 30.23, in the final 50 meters. De Paul snatched third in 2:02.29. <\/p>\n<p>In an exciting finish, Trojan&#39;s Dominik Meichtry surfaced victorious in the men&#39;s 200 free with a 1:50.35. Teammate Clement Lefert placed second in 1:50.72, whileClary picked up third in 1:50.79 after the stunning triple from last night that spanned 800 meters of competitive swimming in the evening. <\/p>\n<p>In yet another close call, North Coast&#39;s Tanya Krisman touched out Minnesota&#39;s Jillian Tyler, 2:37.83 to 2:37.93, in the women&#39;s 200 breast. Krisman&#39;s teammate Jessie Schmitt wound up third overall in 2:38.26. Toronto followed in the men&#39;s 200 breast with a 1-2 finish. Warren Barnes barely defeated teammate Marco Monaco, 2:19.31 to 2:19.49. Sandpipers&#39; Cody Miller placed third in 2:23.29. <\/p>\n<p>California&#39;s Madison Kennedy cruised in the women&#39;s 50 free with a dominant time of 26.07. Laval&#39;s Marie-Pier Ratelle touched half-a-second back with a 26.45, while San Dieguito&#39;s Rochelle Dong, 14, completed the podium with a third-place 26.64. Trojan&#39;s Octavio Alesi edged Bakersfield&#39;s Gabe Woodward, 23.37 to 23.39, in the men&#39;s 50 free. Redlands&#39; Joey Hale earned third in 23.66. <\/p>\n<p>In relay action, Minnesota&#39;s Hannah Whitehead, Marissa Davies, Kristen Steenvoorden and Ashley Steenvoorden won the women&#39;s 800 free relay in 8:25.96. Notably, Sutton split 2:03.31 as the second leg of Mission Viejo&#39;s fourth-place finishing team. Mission Viejo&#39;s Chad La Tourette, Spencer Wollkind, Lucas Norman and Jon Daniec topped the men&#39;s 800 free relay in 7:52.57.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Live Stream\/On-Demand Videos Available at Event Landing Page MISSION VIEJO, California, June 12.
