The Kentucky high school state championships got started today in impressive fashion with a number of state records falling in prelims.<\/p>\n

On the boys side, St. Xavier led the way in all three relays and three individuals took two top seeds a piece in prelims.<\/p>\n

In the 200 medley relay,\u00a0Martin Nitzken<\/strong>,\u00a0Keefer Barnum<\/strong>,\u00a0Conner Kang<\/strong>, and\u00a0Miachel Wastman\u00a0<\/strong>ran away with the top spot, stopping the clock in 1:33.86.<\/p>\n

In the 100 backstroke Albiero took down another one of Dusing’s marks. This time, the senior clocked a 47.59, nearly a half second faster than Dusing’s 48.07, also from 1997. Lex. Catholic’s\u00a0Matt Menke\u00a0<\/strong>was just over two seconds back with a 49.91.<\/p>\n
