Villanova’s\u00a0Darby Goodwin\u00a0<\/strong>highlighted day three of the 2017 Big East men and women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Her 100 back leadoff split of 52.96 broke the previous meet record of 52.99.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 IM:<\/h2>\n

All but two swimmers in the women’s 400 IM A-Final were from Villanova and the Wildcats took 1-4 in the event. Junior\u00a0Christine Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>edge out her teammate for the win, touching the wall in 4:21.76.\u00a0Her time was three seconds faster than her swim last year.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Daday,<\/strong> who finished second in the 500 free last night, grabbed silver in a close 4:21.79.\u00a0Gabby Daigneault\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 4:24.97.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 IM:<\/h2>\n
After winning the men’s 200 IM last night,\u00a0Lior Grubert\u00a0<\/strong>added another gold in the longer IM event tonight. The Seton Hall sophomore stopped the clock in 3:54.38 for his second-consecutive title.<\/p>\n
Seton Hall swept this event, thanks to a second-place finish by\u00a0Ivan Michalovic\u00a0<\/strong>(3:56.28) and a third-place finish by\u00a0Jonathan Bar-Eli\u00a0<\/strong>(3:57.09).<\/p>\n

Xavier’s\u00a0Caroline Gaertner\u00a0<\/strong>broke Villanova’s winning streak by\u00a0claiming the women’s 100 fly as her own. The sophomore, who finished sixth in this event last year, won by half a second in 53.72.<\/p>\n
Seton Hall’s\u00a0Sydney Simpson\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 54.42 and Georgetown’s\u00a0Dorothy Morgan\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 54.90 to complete the top three.<\/p>\n

Villanova posted an impressive feat as the Wildcats swept the top six spots on the podium for the women’s 200 free. They were led by sophomore Alex Fabbri<\/strong>\u00a0who posted a time of 1:46.15, four seconds faster than her time last year.<\/p>\n
Last night’s 500 free winner\u00a0Emily Mayo\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 1:47.37 while\u00a0Jessica Randolph\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 1:49.52.<\/p>\n

Xavier swept the top three spots in the men’s 100 back with only 0.20 separating the three teammates. Sophomore\u00a0Sam Johanns<\/strong>, who took fourth one year ago, won in 49.24 to claim his first Big East individual gold.<\/p>\n
Nathan Runyon\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close second in 49.26 and\u00a0David Bunnell\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 49.44.<\/p>\n

Blom’s teammate\u00a0Jared Cooper-Vespa\u00a0<\/strong>dove to second with 501.40 points and Seton Hall’s\u00a0Alex Pfisterer\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a score of 490.55.<\/p>\n
