The two split identical times at the 50 yard mark, both turning at a 24.91, but it was Case who pulled ahead in the finish. Case touched first with a 52.03 over Rule&#8217;s 52.05.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate\u00a0<strong>Brynne Wong\u00a0<\/strong>picked up third with a 53.89, followed by West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Morgan Bullock\u00a0<\/strong>and her time of 54.12.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pia Pavlic<\/strong> of Kansas posted a 54.25 for fifth, while TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Micaela Roemer<\/strong> took sixth with a 54.70.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia teammates\u00a0<strong>Amelie Currat<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Julia Miranda<\/strong> finished seventh and eighth with times of 54.99 and 55.16.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Fly<\/h3>\n<p>Texas<strong>&#8216; Joseph Schooling\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>went head-to-head for their last Big 12 Championship 100 fly, with both soaring ahead of the competition. Schooling got the better of Conger, stopping the clock at a 44.06 over Conger&#8217;s 44.56.<\/p>\n<p>Schooling&#8217;s time took down his own championship meet record of 44.62 from last year and stopped just shy of his Big 12 Conference record of 44.01, also from last year. His 44.06 currently sits as the 3rd fastest time ever for the 100 fly SCY.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brett Ringgold<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Will Glass\u00a0<\/strong>picked up the third and fourth place spots with times of 46.32 and 46.51 respectively, followed by teammate\u00a0<strong>Max Holter<\/strong> (46.86).<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Frazier<\/strong> touched sixth with a time of 49.03, while TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>John Smith\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh with a 49.05.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Madisyn Cox<\/strong> of Texas grabbed her second individual win of the meet with a dominating finish in the 400 IM. The senior posted a final time of 4:01.15, finishing more than 13 seconds ahead of the competition. Cox&#8217;s time takes down her Big 12 Championship meet record of 4:04.67 from last year, but also replaces <strong>Kathleen Hersey&#8217;s<\/strong> 2009\u00a0Big 12 conference record of 4:01.91.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maggie D&#8217;Innocenzo<\/strong> of Texas picked up second place with a time of 4:14.28, followed by Kansas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Madison Straight<\/strong> and her time of 4:17.81.<\/p>\n<p>TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elise Forzley\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed fourth overall with a 4:19.21, just ahead of Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Haley Ruegemer<\/strong><strong>&#8216;s\u00a0<\/strong>4:19.73.<\/p>\n<p>TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Robertson<\/strong> (4:19.99), Kansas\u00a0<strong>Libby Walker<\/strong> (4:20.29), and Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary Kate Luddy<\/strong> (4:24.48) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h3>\n<p>Texas swept the podium of the men&#8217;s 400 IM, led by junior\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Roberts<\/strong>. Roberts turned in a final time of 3:40.26 to pick up the gold medal, while senior\u00a0<strong>Will Licon\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 3:43.85 for second. Roberts&#8217; time lowers his own championship meet record of 3:41.54 from last year&#8217;s meet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sam Stewart<\/strong> rounded out the podium with a final time of 3:44.49.<\/p>\n<p>TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dayne Odendaal<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Carlos Hunnicutt\u00a0<\/strong>picked up fourth and fifth with times of 3:52.81 and 3:52.84 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Koval<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Brandon Christian<\/strong> were sixth and seventh with times of 3:57.63 and 4:00.56, while TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>John Remetta<\/strong> finished eighth overall with a 4:00.63.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Joanna Evans\u00a0<\/strong>of Texas added a second individual Big 12 title to her name with a win in the 200 free. Evans touched with a final time of 1:44.41 , more than a second and a half ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Teammates\u00a0<strong>Quinn Carrozza\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nora McCullagh<\/strong> took second and third respectively with times of 1:46.11 and 1:47.11.<\/p>\n<p>The Kansas duo of\u00a0<strong>Jenny Nusbaum<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Sammie Schurig<\/strong> finished fourth and fifth overall with times of 1:47.26 and 1:48.96, while Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Anelise Diener<\/strong> was sixth with a 1:49.27.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keely\u00a0<\/strong><b>Soellner<\/b> and West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Skelley\u00a0<\/strong>took seventh and eighth with times of 1:49.36 and 1:51.00.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Townley Haas<\/strong>, the defending NCAA champion from Texas, took home an easy win in the 200 free with a smooth 1:32.17. Haas&#8217; time stands as one of the fastest in the nation right now, right with Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni<\/strong> who, earlier today, posted a 1:32.13 at the 2017 Men&#8217;s B1G Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Texas continued to produce quick swims as\u00a0<strong>Jeff Newkirk\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Clark Smith<\/strong> rounded out the podium with times of 1:34.02 and 1:34.22 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate\u00a0<strong>PJ Dunne<\/strong> added a 1:34.64 for fourth place, ahead of TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Radu Duican&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:37.96.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Drew Damich\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Kelly\u00a0<\/strong>picked up sixth and seventh with times of 1:38.55 and 1:38.62, while TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tommy Thach\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth with a 1:39.64.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n<p>Texas&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Surhoff<\/strong> topped the competition with a 1:00.89 to be the only swimmer beneath the 1:01 mark. Teammate\u00a0<strong>Olivia Anderson<\/strong> finished second overall with a time of 1:01.66, scraping more than a second off her prelims time of 1:02.98.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Haley Downey\u00a0<\/strong>of Kansas grabbed a spot on the podium with a third place finish of 1:02.09, followed by West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Harris&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>1:02.26. All four swimmers were beneath the NCAA &#8216;B&#8217; cut time of 1:02.49.<\/p>\n<p>TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Devin Newton<\/strong> picked up fifth with a 1:02.62, just ahead of Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kasey Roberts<\/strong> (1:02.71) and\u00a0<strong>Danielle Delaquis<\/strong> (1:03.09).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ashley Dyke<\/strong> of TCU completed the top eight with a 1:03.13.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Jake Armstrong<\/strong> of West Virginia became the first man or woman not from Texas to claim a championship title at the 2017 meet. Armstrong posted a 53.09 to claim the top spot on the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Casey Melzer\u00a0<\/strong>took second overall with a time of 53.67, followed by teammate\u00a0<strong>Austin Temple<\/strong> and his time of 53.97.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jakub Swierczynski<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Migs Martin,\u00a0<\/strong>both of TCU, finished fourth and fifth with times of 54.75 and 55.12 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Drew Riebel\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed sixth overall with a time of 55.23, followed by TCU teammates\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Drewes<\/strong> (56.67) and\u00a0<strong>John Remetta<\/strong> (58.09).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Back<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Tasija Karosas<\/strong> of Texas made history by becoming the first woman to four peat the 100 back at the Big 12 Championships. She joins teammate\u00a0<strong>Madisyn Cox,\u00a0<\/strong>who earlier in the meet became the first woman to four peat the 400 IM. Karosas&#8217; time of 50.96 erases her own Big 12 Conference and Championship records of 51.40, set at last year&#8217;s championships.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman teammate\u00a0<strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> also swam under the previous records, grabbing the silver with a time of 51.19, while\u00a0<strong>Kaitlin Harty<\/strong> was third overall with a 54.07.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yulduz Kuchkarova<\/strong> of Kansas took fourth with a time of 54.35, followed by a tie between TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Madison Ibrahim\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Amelie Currat<\/strong>. The two stopped the clock at matching times of 54.54.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Harper Emswiler\u00a0<\/strong>and Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Baxley\u00a0<\/strong>were seventh and eighth with times of 55.02 and 55.31 respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Back<\/h3>\n<p><strong>John Shebat\u00a0<\/strong>of Texas flirted with the possibility of a new meet record in the men&#8217;s 100 back with a top showing of 45.72. Teammate\u00a0<strong>Josh Artmann\u00a0<\/strong>picked up second with a final time of 47.37.<\/p>\n<p>The West Virginia duo of\u00a0<strong>Merwane Elmerini<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Luke Hene<\/strong> grabbed third and fourth with times of 47.70 and 49.48.<\/p>\n<p>TCU swept the remainder of the event with fifth through eighth place finishes.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 3-Meter Diving<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Grayson Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>of Texas dominated the competition in his first 3-meter diving competition at a Big 12 championship meet. The freshman posted a final score of 449.95 points, making him the only diver to score above 400 points.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate\u00a0<strong>Mark Anderson<\/strong>, the 2016 champion in this event, grabbed second with a score of 362.50, while West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alex Obendorf\u00a0<\/strong>posted a third place finish of 345.20.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia picked up fourth through sixth places as\u00a0<strong>Michael Proietto<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Austin Smith<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Logan McHenry<\/strong> picked up final scores of 344.85, 316.05, and 307.55 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>TCU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Owen Moncino\u00a0<\/strong>was seventh with 295.10, followed by West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gerald Hodges&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>294.40.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Texas women ended day three with a relay win in the 200 free relay. The quad of\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Millard<\/strong> (21.96),\u00a0<strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> (21.98),\u00a0<strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> (22.06), and\u00a0<strong>Anelise Diener<\/strong> (22.04) posted a combined time of 1:28.04 for the gold.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Laura Miksch<\/strong> (22.66),\u00a0<strong>Savanna Townsend<\/strong> (22.89),\u00a0<strong>Harper Emswiler<\/strong> (22.65), and\u00a0<strong>Maddie\u00a0<\/strong><b>Rascal<\/b> (22.65) picked up the silver medal with a final time of 1:30.85.<\/p>\n<p>Third went to Kansas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Haley Bishop\u00a0<\/strong>(23.29),\u00a0<strong>Yulduz Kuchkarova<\/strong> (22.60),\u00a0<strong>Pia Pavlic<\/strong> (22.86), and\u00a0<strong>Carly Straight<\/strong> (22.79), who stopped the clock at a 1:31.54.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia finished fourth overall with a 1:33.85, followed by TCU&#8217;s fifth place finish of 1:33.92.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Tate Jackson<\/strong> (19.59),\u00a0<strong>John Shebat<\/strong> (19.45),\u00a0<strong>Brett Ringgold<\/strong> (18.90), and\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>(19.16) ended the night with a final gold in the men&#8217;s 200 free relay.
