The first full night of finals at the women’s Pac-12 championships in Federal Way, Wash., featured an American record courtesy of Stanford’s\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>in the 500 free as she crushed her previous mark set at the Ohio State Invitational in November.<\/p>\n

Stanford has won every single event contested so far (except for men’s diving, which is being held concurrently with the women’s meet), but California’s depth has kept the Golden Bears in the contest with two full days to go.<\/p>\n

Stanford currently has 546 points, and Cal is second with 490. Arizona is in third place with 376, but USC (351) and UCLA (336) are not far away. Rounding out the team standings are Arizona State (274), Utah (165), Washington State (148) and Oregon State (130).<\/p>\n

Women’s 1-meter diving<\/h3>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Kassidy Cook’s\u00a0<\/strong>impressive final dive was enough to vault her over UCLA’s\u00a0Maria Polyakova<\/strong> for the win. Cook scored 338.35 points, while Polyakova settled for second with her score of 328.15. USC’s\u00a0Naomi Gowlett<\/strong> took third with 328.15.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Haley Farnsworth\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth with a score of 297.75, followed by Cal’s\u00a0Phoebe Lamay<\/strong> (286.15). The rest of the final consisted of all Arizona divers:\u00a0Karolyn Loftus<\/strong> (276.80),\u00a0Kaitlin Costello<\/strong> (273.65) and\u00a0Sally Hackett<\/strong> (255.60).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Women’s 500 free<\/h3>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>demolished her own American and NCAA records in the women’s 500 free Thursday night at the Pac-12 championships in Federal Way, Wash. Ledecky touched in 4:25.15, obliterating her previous top mark of 4:26.46 set at the Ohio State Invite in November.<\/p>\n

Ledecky was never challenged and finished 20 meters ahead of the field. Ledecky now owns the nine fastest performances in history in the event, and no one has swum within five seconds of her new record.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in the race in a quick 4:35.69, and Cal’s\u00a0Katie McLaughlin\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 4:36.04. Those times rank sixth and seventh in the country, respectively.<\/p>\n

A third Stanford freshman finished in the top four as\u00a0Megan Byrnes\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 4:39.14. Arizona’s\u00a0Hannah Cox<\/strong> made it five swimmers under 4:40 as she touched in 4:39.66.<\/p>\n

Arizona State’s\u00a0Kat Simonovic\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth in 4:40.53, just ahead of Stanford’s\u00a0Leah Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>(4:40.79). Taking eighth was USC’s\u00a0Tatum Wade\u00a0<\/strong>(4:41.12).<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n
Cal’s\u00a0Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>opened up a big lead on the butterfly leg and held that lead through the breaststroke, but Stanford’s\u00a0Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>exploded on the breast-to-free exchange and pulled away on the last 25. Eastin touched in 1:52.34, just ahead of Baker’s 1:52.74.<\/p>\n
Eastin was just a half-second short of her own American record, a 1:51.65 set on the way to winning last season’s NCAA championship in the event. The two times eclipse the 1:52.82 that Texas’\u00a0Madisyn Cox\u00a0<\/strong>put up earlier in the night at the Big 12 championships as the top swims in the country this season.<\/p>\n
USC’s Louise Hansson\u00a0<\/strong>was in the mix with Baker earlier in the race but ended up settling for third in 1:53.72.<\/p>\n
Stanford’s Ally Howe\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth in 1:55.74, just ahead of USC’s\u00a0Kirsten Vose\u00a0<\/strong>(1:55.91). Also competing in the A-final were Stanford’s\u00a0Kim Williams\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.81) and Cal teammates\u00a0Keaton Blovad\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.50) and\u00a0Celina Li\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.01).<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 free<\/h3>\n
Stanford’s\u00a0Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>used a rocket turn and second 25 to pull ahead of Cal’s\u00a0Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>and win the splash-and-dash. Manuel touched in 21.29, the fastest time in the country this season and two tenths ahead of the rest of the field.<\/p>\n
Cal’s\u00a0Farida Osman<\/strong> touched out her teammate Weitzeil for second, 21.49 to 21.50. Weitzeil currently ranks second in the country with her prelims time of 21.40, and Osman’s time is good for fourth nationally.<\/p>\n
UCLA’s\u00a0Linnea Mack<\/strong> took third in 21.67, while Stanford’s\u00a0Lia Neal<\/strong> touched out Arizona’s\u00a0Katrinka Konopka<\/strong>, 21.70 to 21.71, for fifth. USC’s\u00a0Anika Apostalon\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh in 21.91, and Cal’s\u00a0Amy Bilquist\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth in 22.13.<\/p>\n

USC earned a 1-2 finish on the men’s 3-meter board as\u00a0Dashiell Enos<\/strong> won with a score of 428.35, and more than 20 points back was teammate\u00a0Henry Fusaro<\/strong>, who finished with 408.15. Taking third was ASU’s\u00a0Heikki Makikallio<\/strong>, who put up 372.50 points.<\/p>\n
Stanford put three men into the final, and\u00a0Bradley Christiensen<\/strong> finished fourth (370.00),\u00a0Tarek Abdelghany<\/strong> fifth (369.75) and\u00a0Theodore Miclau<\/strong> seventh (361.95). ASU’s\u00a0Youssef Selim<\/strong> was sixth with 363.15, and Cal’s\u00a0Connor Callahan\u00a0<\/strong>scored 331.75 for eighth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Women’s 200 free relay<\/h3>\n
Stanford’s\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong>,\u00a0Lia Neal<\/strong> and\u00a0Janet Hu<\/strong> delivered a lead to anchor leg\u00a0Ally Howe<\/strong>, and Howe had just enough in the tank to hold off a charging\u00a0Farida Osman<\/strong>. In the end, the Cardinal touched in 1:26.44, and Osman’s Cal team came in just behind at 1:26.49.\u00a0Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong>,\u00a0Amy Bilquist\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Maddie Murphy<\/strong> swam the first three legs for the Golden Bears.<\/p>\n
Top splits came from Manuel, who led off in a swift 21.44 (just off her 21.29 from earlier in the night), and from Osman, who anchored in 21.21.<\/p>\n
Arizona’s team of Katrinka Konopka<\/strong>,\u00a0Annie Ochitwa<\/strong>,\u00a0Paige Kremer\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Laura Kurki<\/strong> finished third in 1:27.95, and the Wildcats were followed by USC (1:28.77), UCLA (1:29.17) and Arizona State (1:29.41).<\/p>\n
