While the time is almost two seconds off her own American record of 4:26.46, the mark is the seventh-fastest performance all-time, and no one else in history has swum within two seconds of that time.<\/p>\n<p>The 500 will be a huge race for the Stanford Cardinal, as expected, as a pair of Ledecky\u2019s freshmen classmates will bracket her in this evening\u2019s final: <strong>Katie Drabot<\/strong> qualified second in 4:37.49, and <strong>Megan Byrnes<\/strong> finished third in 4:39.66. Both figure to be much faster in the final as they finished one-two (Eastin then Baker) in the event at both the Pac-12 and NCAA championships last season.<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> qualified third in 1:55.43, more than a second ahead of teammate\u00a0<strong>Kirsten Vose<\/strong> (1:56.49). Weitzeil&#8217;s time surpasses\u00a0<strong>Li Zhesi<\/strong> (21.48) as the top time in the country this season.
