{"id":242067,"date":"2017-03-02T19:20:51","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T02:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=242067"},"modified":"2017-03-02T19:29:51","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T02:29:51","slug":"tim-bauer-resigns-woodlands-swim-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tim-bauer-resigns-woodlands-swim-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated: Tim Bauer Resigns From The Woodlands Swim Team, Joins Katy Aquatics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tim Bauer<\/strong>, head coach for The Woodlands Swim Team in Texas, resigned on February 21st after 24\u00a0years with the team. \u00a0The first five\u00a0years of his tenure, Bauer\u00a0built the age group program for swimmers aged 14 and younger into a state championship team. He also helped start the non-competitive programs that became a feeder for the competitive team. \u00a0Under his leadership as the head coach, the team grew to over 400 members.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming World has now learned that Katy Aquatics has hired Bauer as its Director of Competitive Swimming and will join Coach <strong>Andy Korda<\/strong> to lead the High Performance group. \u00a0Bauer will join the team to start the 2017 Long Course Season.<\/p>\n<p>Bauer was instrumental in leading the team from a corporate organization\u00a0to a parent\/coach run program. \u00a0Over the years, his knowledge of stroke technique and belief in hard work combined with fun produced more than 30\u00a0Texas state high school champions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;It was just time. \u00a0The club needs a new voice. I am very comfortable with my decision. \u00a0The club is in a very good position. \u00a0It is just time for a new leadership and a new voice,&#8221; Bauer told Swimming World.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Prior to arriving at The Woodlands in 1993, Bauer was the Assistant Head Coach for the Mission Viejo Nadadores (MVN) where he coached over 20 different Olympians. \u00a0He arrived at MVN after working under <strong>Bob Gillette<\/strong> at the Arizona Sports Ranch where he worked closely in the development of Olympic Champion \u00a0<strong>Misty Hyman.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bauer currently sits on United States Swimming&#8217;s Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p>Some of his accomplishments over the years are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Named Turkish coach for 2011 Junior Worlds (Lima, Peru)<\/li>\n<li>Named 2011 NCSA All-Star Head Coach of the Mens team. (Japan)<\/li>\n<li>Named 2010 National Zone Select Camp Head Coach for USA Swimming<\/li>\n<li>Selected 2008 National Junior Team Assistant Men\u2019s Coach (Melbourne,Australia)<\/li>\n<li>Named 2006 Head Coach of the National Select Camp for USA Swimming<\/li>\n<li>Named 2005 Gulf Senior Coach of the Year for the state of Texas<\/li>\n<li>Voted three-time Texas Age Group Coach of the Year and honored at ASCA World Clinic<\/li>\n<li>Developed numerous Olympians, Olympic trial qualifiers, Senior National Finalists, and Junior National Champions<\/li>\n<li>Achieved American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 5 \u2013 the highest level \u2013 for both senior and age groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tim Bauer, head coach for The
