For more information about Agon, visit their website\u00a0<\/i><i><i><a href=\"https:\/\/agonswim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><em>By Erin Himes, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Virginia High School 4A States was marked by a deep field across both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s races.<\/p>\n<p>Hanover High School boys won the 200 medley relay in 1:38.27 with the team of<strong> Patrick Townsend<\/strong>, <strong>Jonathan Moss<\/strong>, <strong>Ross<\/strong> <strong>Newton<\/strong>, and <strong>Marshall<\/strong> <strong>Brooks<\/strong>. In second was Loudon County High School&#8217;s squad of <strong>Jake<\/strong> <strong>Yeager<\/strong>, <strong>Kyle Backus<\/strong>, <strong>Collin Hughes<\/strong>, and <strong>Shane Hunter<\/strong> in 1:38.53. Third place went to Kettle Run High School, with <strong>Jake Heenan<\/strong>, <strong>Tanner Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Garrett Finan<\/strong>, and<strong> Nicholas Fallows<\/strong> touching in 1:38.75.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s race, Jamestown High School took first with 1:46.05 posted by <strong>Joelle Vereb<\/strong>,<strong> Ashley Adams<\/strong>,<strong> Carter<\/strong> <strong>Catherine Roehrle<\/strong>, and <strong>Abby<\/strong> <strong>Larson<\/strong>. In second was Lafayette High School with 1:47.69 by the squad of <strong>Grace<\/strong> <strong>Olsen<\/strong>, <strong>Colby Hurt<\/strong>, <strong>Sofia Long<\/strong>, and<strong> Olivia Nice<\/strong>. Rounding out the top three was King George High School&#8217;s team of <strong>Emily Sizemore<\/strong>, <strong>Jessica Miller<\/strong>, <strong>Caroline Bentz<\/strong>, and<strong> Emma Morrow<\/strong> posting a 1:51.96.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew Popovich<\/strong> of Dominion High School dominated the 200 free in 1:39.79. In second was <strong>Jake Lawson<\/strong> of Salem High School in 1:43.67 and in third was his teammate <strong>Nick Lawson<\/strong> in 1:44.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicole Fye<\/strong> of Rock Ridge High School won the women&#8217;s race in 1:50.25. She was followed by<strong> Keeley Hemminger<\/strong> of Woodgrove Swim Team in 1:54.16 and <strong>Lindsey Fanz<\/strong> of Powhatan High School in 1:54.48.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sean Conway<\/strong> of Loudoun Valley won the men&#8217;s 200 IM in 1:48.70. Second place went to <strong>Michael Burris<\/strong> of Heritage High School in 1:51.94, while third went to <strong>Kyle Barker<\/strong> of John Champe High School.<\/p>\n<p>Hurt won the women&#8217;s 200 IM in 2:02.60. <strong>Jacqueline Tinneney<\/strong> of Grafton Swimming placed second with a 2:06.40 and <strong>Rachel Schlemmer<\/strong> of Dominion High School placed third with a 2:07.04.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob Miller<\/strong> of King George High School won the 50 free for the men in 21.20. Hughes took second in 21.60 and <strong>Tyler Dominick<\/strong> of Deep Creek High School finished third with a 21.67.<\/p>\n<p>Larson won the women&#8217;s race in a 23.47. In second was Bentz, touching in 24.39.<strong> Rita Frie<\/strong> of Woodgrove Swim Team finished third in 24.55.<\/p>\n<p>Only two divers competed, with <strong>Jack Fleming<\/strong> of Harrisonburg High School scoring 311.30 points on the men&#8217;s side and<strong> Shyanne Morris<\/strong> of Louisa County High School scoring 230.15 points on the women&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khalil Fonder<\/strong> of William Byrd High School won the men&#8217;s 100 fly in 48.41. Barker took second in 51.43 and <strong>Josh Hankey<\/strong> of Jefferson Forest High School took third in 51.48.<\/p>\n<p>Vereb won\u00a0the women&#8217;s race in 55.50, while <strong>Gabby\u00a0Zhang<\/strong> of Rock Ridge finished second in 56.14. In third was Long in 56.61.<\/p>\n<p>Popovich narrowly won the men&#8217;s 100 free in 46.31, edging out Miller who finished in 46.47. In third place was <strong>Ryland Leupold<\/strong> of Courtland High School in 47.37.<\/p>\n<p>Larson won the women&#8217;s 100 free in 50.69. Bentz finished second in 51.68 and Frie was third with a 52.36.<\/p>\n<p>Conway took first in the men&#8217;s 500, finishing in 4:32.42. Jake and Nick Lawson finished second and third, respectively, in 4:34.73 and 4:36.10.<\/p>\n<p>Fye won the women&#8217;s 500 in 4:54.52, followed by Hurt in 4:57.24. Tinneney finished third in 5:02.38.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown High School won the 200 free relay for the men, finishing in 1:39.34 with the team of <strong>Austin Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Matt Williams<\/strong>, <strong>Corey Schideler<\/strong>, and <strong>Taylor Watson<\/strong>. Courtland High School finished second, with the team of <strong>Nick Ashton<\/strong>, <strong>Nick Slater<\/strong>,<strong> Kyle Pins<\/strong>, Leupold touching in 1:29.75. In third was Kettle Run High School&#8217;s team of <strong>Andy Whitted<\/strong>,<strong> Parker Webb<\/strong>, Smith, and Fallows in 1:29.92.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown won the women&#8217;s race in 1:36.82 with the team of Vereb,<strong> Kaitlyn Pegram<\/strong>, Roehrle, and Larson. In second was Rock Ridge&#8217;s team of Zhang,<strong> Emerson Davis<\/strong>, <strong>Allie MacMillan<\/strong>, and Fye in 1:38.36. Third place went to Woodgrove Swim Team&#8217;s squad of<strong> Hannah Carter<\/strong>, <strong>Sarah Frie<\/strong>, Hemminger, and Rita Frie in 1:41.08.<\/p>\n<p>Fonder won the 100 backstroke in 49.52. He was followed by Townsend in 50.37 and Hankey in 53.00.<\/p>\n<p>Vereb dominated the 100 backstroke in 56.52. Zhang took second in 58.34 and Olsen finished third in 58.60.<\/p>\n<p>Burris showed a dominate performance in the 100 breaststroke with a 55.93 victory. <strong>Nate Wilson<\/strong> of King George High School finished second in 57.91 and<strong> Carson Stevens<\/strong> of Park View Patriots Swim Team took third in 59.66.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tara Enneking<\/strong> of Jefferson Forest High School won the women&#8217;s race in 1:05.06. Her teammate <strong>Lexi Plogger<\/strong> finished second in 1:06.32. Miller took third in 1:07.47.<\/p>\n<p>Jefferson Forest High School won the men&#8217;s 400 freestyle relay with the team of <strong>Ben Davidson<\/strong>, <strong>Brian Grimmett<\/strong>, <strong>Brendan Murray<\/strong>, and Hankey touching in 3:15.42. In second was Loudoun County High School&#8217;s team of Hughes, <strong>Jack Ramberg<\/strong>, Hunter, and Yeager in 3:16.12. Third place went to Jamestown High School&#8217;s squad of Smith, Williams, Schideler, and Watson in 3:17.01.<\/p>\n<p>Rock Ridge High School won the women&#8217;s 400 free relay in 3:31.47 with the squad of Zhang, Davis, MacMillan, and Fye. Lafeyette High School finished second with the team of Olsen, <strong>Emma Frieling<\/strong>, Hurt, and Long touching in 3:34.32. Woodgrove Swim Team rounded out the top three in 3:36.43 by the team of S. Frie, Carter, Hemminger, and R. Frie.<\/p>\n<p>Jefferson Forest High School won the men&#8217;s meet with 198.5 points. In second was Hanover High School with 155 and in third was Kettle Run High School with 144.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, the meet was won by Jamestown High School with 287 points.
