ANTWERP, Belgium, May 16. THE second night of competition at the Belgian Long Course Championships featured a tied national record as well as a double from Kimberly Buys.<\/p>\n
Buys matched her Belgian record in the women's 100 back with a winning time of 1:02.46. That swim tied her previous 1:02.46 from last summer in Rome. Jasmijn Verhaegen placed second in 1:03.85, while Evy Witlox took third in 1:04.98. Buys then doubled with a 2:17.20 to win the women's 200 IM. Fanny Lecluyse (2:20.50) and Laura Deconinck (2:21.99) made up the rest of the podium. <\/p>\n
The Rosenberger twins went 1-2 in the women's 200 fly with Jasmin claiming the title in 2:16.91. Her sister, Iris, picked up second-place honors in 2:17.39. Jolien Vanhentenrijk completed the top three in 2:18.75. Emmanuel Vanluchene followed in the men's 100 back with a winning time of 57.85. He just touched out Sander Helderweirt, who placed second in 57.87. Louis Croenen finished third in 58.12.<\/p>\n
Kim Janssens topped the women's 100 breast in 1:09.72, while national record holder Elise Matthysen wound up second in 1:10.59. Stephanie Verschueren finished third overall in 1:12.24. Glenn Surgeloose won the men's 100 free in 50.10. Yoris Grandjean took second in 50.25, while Francois Heersbrandt placed third in 50.46. <\/p>\n
Jolien Sysmans, the Belgian record holder in the women's 50 free with a 25.40 to her credit from 2008, cruised to victory with a 25.72 in the event. Annelies De Mare settled for second in 26.17, while Nina Van Koeckhoven touched third in 26.33. Gilles De Wilde topped the men's 50 fly in 24.61. Gino Stevenheydens (25.02) and Bjoern Balliu (25.10) placed second and third in the sprint fly. <\/p>\n
Jonas Coreelman earned the men's 200 breast victory in 2:17.10, while Raf Vandevelde finished second in 2:20.19. Pieterjan Vangerven placed third in 2:20.48. <\/p>\n
In the distance events, Miguel Diogo won the men's 1500 free in 16:22.20. Jonas Beelprez (16:30.91) and Didier Droogne (16:34.27) finished second and third.
