For more information about Agon, visit their website\u00a0<\/i><i><i><a href=\"https:\/\/agonswim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Kansas boys high school swimming wrapped up for the year this weekend as a number of state records fell at both the 1A-5A and 6A meets.<\/p>\n<h2>6A<\/h2>\n<p>Shawnee Mission East was dominant, securing the state title with 394.5 points. OP Blue Valley North was second with 282 points.<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence Free State took the first relay victory as the quartet of\u00a0<strong>Evan Askilson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Evan Yoder<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jordan Portela<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Corey Schultz-Bever\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:35.24 in the 200 medley.<\/p>\n<p>Portela then turned around and won the 200 freestyle in 1:39.01, over two seconds ahead of Lawrence&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Stephen Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:41.91. Portela was a double winner, demolishing his own 100 butterfly state record, stopping the clock in 48.66, far faster than the 49.44 he posted last year.<\/p>\n<p>Portela&#8217;s teammate\u00a0Yoder won the 200 IM with a 1:53.31, just faster than\u00a0<strong>Tarrin Fisher\u00a0<\/strong>(1:53.87) of Topeka Washburn Rural.<\/p>\n<p>OP Blue Valley North&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sam DiSette\u00a0<\/strong>took down a state record with a 20.09 50 freestyle, faster than the 20.33 he set in prelims. His second state record of the day came in the 100 freestyle where he clocked a 44.15, better than the 2013 mark of 45.20.<\/p>\n<p>DiSette combined with\u00a0<strong>Mitch Fisher<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Owen Stamper<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Levi Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>for a state record time of 1:25.47 in the 200 freestyle relay. DiSette brought that relay home in 19.71 to take down the mark of 1:25.64 from 2006.<\/p>\n<p>OP Blue Valley West&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jonah Park\u00a0<\/strong>was first to the wall in the 500 freestyle with a 4:39.78. Wichita Southeast&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alec Lebeda\u00a0<\/strong>touched second (4:42.44).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ian Longan\u00a0<\/strong>of Shawnee Mission East won the 100 backstroke (52.31) and Topeka Washburn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tarrin Fisher\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 breaststroke (57.19).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evan Root<\/strong>, <strong>Ian Longan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Aidan Holbrook<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Hayden Linscott\u00a0<\/strong>ended the meet with a 400 freestyle relay state record for Shawnee Mission East in a time of 3:08.04.<\/p>\n<p>Full results available <a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/kansas-boys-6a-high-school-state-championship-high-school-2017-02-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>1A-5A<\/h2>\n<p>Wichita Heights won the title with 242 points while Maize and Lenexa-St. James Academy tied for second with 181 points a piece.<\/p>\n<p>Wichita Heights opened their title quest with a 200 medley relay victory with the team of\u00a0<strong>Aidan Gantenbein<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Noah Thompson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dylan Jensen<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Carson Hager<\/strong> in 1:38.41.<\/p>\n<p>Andover Central senior\u00a0<strong>Spencer Krueger\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 freestyle in 1:41.97. On his heels was Topeka Seaman&#8217;s<strong> Zeke Metz\u00a0<\/strong>(1:42.69) and Wichita Trinity Academy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Colton Smith\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 1:44.16.<\/p>\n<p>Krueger also won the 100 freestyle, edging SM Bishop Miege&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lex Hernandez-Nietling\u00a0<\/strong>46.96 to 47.02. Withita Heights&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ethan Conrady\u00a0<\/strong>took bronze (47.44).<\/p>\n<p>Leavenworth senior\u00a0<strong>Brayden Love\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 IM in 1:49.88, just faster than Wichita Trinity Academy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ben Patton\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:50.26. Bonner Springs&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ryan Downing\u00a0<\/strong>was third (1:52.51). Love took his second victory in the 100 butterfly with a 49.57. Hernandez-Nietling picked up his second silver of the day in 51.27.<\/p>\n<p>Patton later finished just .01 shy of the 100 backstroke state record with a winning 50.29. Downing was also later victorious with a 56.28 in the 100 breaststroke. That too was a state record, taking down a 17 year old state mark.<\/p>\n<p>Lenexa St. James Academy junior\u00a0<strong>Nick Callahan\u00a0<\/strong>out touched\u00a0Jensen 21.75 to 21.81 for the 50 freestyle crown.\u00a0After a runner up finish in the 200, Metz touched first in the 500 freestyle (4:41.40), just faster than\u00a0Rose Hill senior\u00a0<strong>Boah Baden\u00a0<\/strong>(4:42.49).<\/p>\n<p>Kansas City Turner&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gabe Pena<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Xiong<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ethan Harrity<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ashton Chowing\u00a0<\/strong>set a state record in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:29.21.<\/p>\n<p>Andover Central&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Raddek Thomas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nicolas Krueger<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Charles Hsu<\/strong>, and\u00a0Krueger<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>closed the meet with a 400 freestyle relay victory in 3:16.74m just two tenths ahead of Wichita Heights.<\/p>\n<p>Mill Valley&#8217;s senior\u00a0<strong>Mitch Willoughby\u00a0<\/strong>won the one meter diving with 445.70 points.<\/p>\n<p>Full results available <a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/kansas-boys-5a-high-school-state-championship-high-school-2017-02-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agon is the proud sponsor of all high school coverage (recruiting, results, state championships, etc.) on SwimmingWorld.com.
