{"id":241496,"date":"2017-02-17T11:50:58","date_gmt":"2017-02-17T18:50:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=241496"},"modified":"2017-02-24T13:23:48","modified_gmt":"2017-02-24T20:23:48","slug":"big-ten-championships-day-3-prelims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/big-ten-championships-day-3-prelims\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Ten Women Championships Day 3 Prelims: Clary, King, Haughey Top Seeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The third day events began at the Women\u2019s Big Ten Championships on Firday at Purdue.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a look at what happened in prelims:<\/p>\n<h3>100 butterfly<\/h3>\n<p>Indiana\u2019s <strong>Gia Dalesandro<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 51.79.<\/p>\n<p>Ohio State\u2019s<strong> Zhesi Li<\/strong> was second in 51.98, followed by Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Dana Grindall<\/strong> (52.08), Michigan\u2019s <strong>Vanessa Krause<\/strong> (52.46), Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Elizabeth Nelson<\/strong> (52.68), Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Danielle Nack<\/strong> (52.91), Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Tevyn Waddell<\/strong> and Indiana\u2019s <strong>Christine Jensen<\/strong> (52.98).<\/p>\n<h3>400 IM<\/h3>\n<p>Ohio State\u2019s<strong> Lindsey Clary<\/strong> took the top seed in the 400 IM, clocking a 4:06.63 in prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Penn State\u2019s <strong>Allyson McHugh<\/strong> took the second seed (4:06.91), followed by Michigan\u2019s <strong>Yirong Bi<\/strong> (4:09.74), Ohio State\u2019s <strong>Kathrine Demler<\/strong> (4:09.79), Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Danielle Valley<\/strong> (4:10.41), Ohio State\u2019s <strong>Meg Bailey<\/strong> (4:10.71), Minnesota\u2019s<strong> Breanne Siwicki<\/strong> (4:11.05) and Indiana\u2019s <strong>Samantha Lisy<\/strong> (4:11.69).<\/p>\n<h3>200 free<\/h3>\n<p>Michigan\u2019s <strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> took the top seed in the 200 free at 1:43.93 as the Wolverines send four into the finals.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana\u2019s<strong> Kennedy Goss<\/strong> was second (1:43.99), followed by Wisconsin\u2019s<strong> Cierra Runge<\/strong> (1:44.57), Michigan\u2019s <strong>Gabby DeLoof<\/strong> (1:44.87), <strong>G<\/strong> <strong>Ryan<\/strong> (1:44.94) and <strong>Rebecca Postoll<\/strong> (1:45.44), Indiana\u2019s <strong>Maria Heitmann<\/strong> (1:45.74) and Purdue\u2019s <strong>Kaersten Meitz<\/strong> (1:45.88).<\/p>\n<h3>100 breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p>Indiana\u2019s <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> broke the pool record to take the top seed in the 100 breaststroke in an NCAA \u2018A\u2019 cut time of 57.46.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Linsdey Horejsi<\/strong> also achieved an \u2018A\u2019 standard with a 58.96 to take the second seed.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Maria Carlson<\/strong> was third (59.30), followed by Iowa\u2019s <strong>Emma Sougstad<\/strong> (59.36), Minnesota\u2019s<strong> Kierra Smith<\/strong> (59.57), Michigan\u2019s <strong>Emily Kopas<\/strong> (59.79), Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Rachel Munson<\/strong> (1:00.58) and Purdue\u2019s <strong>Cady Farlow<\/strong> (1:00.89).<\/p>\n<h3>100 backstroke<\/h3>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s<strong> Elizabeth Nelson<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 51.22.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan\u2019s <strong>Clara Smiddy<\/strong> was second (52.37), followed by Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Tevyn Waddell<\/strong> (52.41), Indiana\u2019s <strong>Alexandra Rockett<\/strong> (52.67), Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Zoe Avestruz<\/strong> (52.70), Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Jessica Unicomb<\/strong> (53.01), Michigan\u2019s <strong>Gabby DeLoof<\/strong> (53.09) and Indiana\u2019s <strong>Gia Dalesandro<\/strong> (53.24).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2017-big-ten-womens-swimming-and-diving-championships-day-three-prelims-day-3\/ncaa-college\/2017\/February\/15\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The third day events began at the Women\u2019s Big Ten Championships on Firday at Purdue.
