{"id":241155,"date":"2017-02-15T17:40:22","date_gmt":"2017-02-16T00:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=241155"},"modified":"2018-02-08T07:36:14","modified_gmt":"2018-02-08T14:36:14","slug":"yale-sweeps-both-relays-on-night-one-of-womens-ivy-league-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yale-sweeps-both-relays-on-night-one-of-womens-ivy-league-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Yale Sweeps Relays on Night One of Women&#8217;s Ivy League Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day one of the 2017 Women&#8217;s Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships took place today at Brown University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2017-womens-ivy-league-day-1-finals-day-1\/ncaa-college\/2017\/February\/15\" target=\"_blank\">2017 Women&#8217;s Ivy League Day 1 Finals &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yale began the meet by dominating the 200 medley relay by over one second.\u00a0The team of\u00a0<strong>Heidi Vanderwel\u00a0<\/strong>(24.77),\u00a0<strong>Cha O&#8217;Leary\u00a0<\/strong>(27.69),\u00a0<strong>Maddy Zimmerman\u00a0<\/strong>(23.46), and\u00a0<strong>Bella Hindley\u00a0<\/strong>(21.79) posted the winning time of 1:37.71.<\/p>\n<p>Vanderwel, Zimmerman, and Hindley posted the fastest splits in the field.\u00a0The Bulldogs&#8217;\u00a0time broke the\u00a0meet and pool record and was an NCAA B cut.<\/p>\n<p>Brown&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jenna Zagoren\u00a0<\/strong>(25.27),\u00a0<strong>Ally Donahue\u00a0<\/strong>(27.00),\u00a0<strong>Caroline Vexler\u00a0<\/strong>(23.75), and <strong>Maddie Salesky<\/strong> (22.71) took second in 1:38.73, also under the previous meet record.\u00a0Harvard&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mei-Lynn Colby\u00a0<\/strong>(25.27),\u00a0<strong>Meagan Popp\u00a0<\/strong>(28.44),\u00a0<strong>Brittany Usinger\u00a0<\/strong>(23.73), and\u00a0<strong>Gabby Sims\u00a0<\/strong>(22.24) finished third in 1:39.68.<\/p>\n<p>The Yale Bulldogs swept both relays tonight, also taking gold in\u00a0the 800 free relay.\u00a0<strong>Kina Zhou\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.23),\u00a0<strong>Lili Margitai\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.50),\u00a0<strong>Olivia Jameson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.08), and\u00a0<strong>Bella Hindley\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.54) won in 7:06.35.<\/p>\n<p>Their time absolutely demolished their previous meet record set last year by over six seconds and broke the pool record by nine seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miki Dahlke\u00a0<\/strong>(1:45.23),\u00a0<strong>Geordie Enoch\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.92),\u00a0<strong>Meagan Popp\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.33), and\u00a0<strong>Daniela Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.89) took second in 7:08.37. Princeton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Joanna Curry<\/strong>\u00a0(1:48.77),\u00a0<strong>Isabel Reis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.31),\u00a0<strong>Elaina Gu\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.44), and\u00a0<strong>Monica McGrath\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.48) finished third in 7:13.00.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Team Scores:<\/h3>\n<p>1.
