For more information about Agon, visit their website\u00a0<\/i><i><i><a href=\"https:\/\/agonswim.com\/\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Punahou High School captured a pair of Hawaii high school state swimming championships this weekend.<\/p>\n<h2>Women<\/h2>\n<p>Punahou won a number of events.\u00a0<strong>Deborah Wen\u00a0<\/strong>was dominant on the board, winning diving with 438.35 points. In the 200 medley relay the squad of\u00a0<strong>Lia Foster<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Maddie Balish<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lyra Gonzalez,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Daralyn Wen\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:47.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chanel Ng<\/strong>,\u00a0Balish, Gonzalez, and\u00a0<strong>Sydnee Whitty\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a 1:37.59 to win the 200 freestyle relay. Balish took a state title of her own with a 1:04.41 in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Foster was dominant in the 200 IM, winning the event in 2:04.35. She also won the 100 back in 56.37.\u00a0Whitty<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>went a 23.46 in the 50 freestyle to garner more first place points for Punahou. She won again with a 51.27 100 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Maui Preparatory Academy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kysha Altura\u00a0<\/strong>was a double winner, posting a 1:50.92 in the 200 freestyle and a 56.39 in the 100 butterfly. Just .01 behind her Lahainaluna&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lexi Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>earned silver in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Seabury Hall&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jasmine O&#8217;Brien\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 500 freestyle, stopping the clock in 4:55.44. That time lowered\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Walton<\/strong>&#8216;s 2015 state record of 4:56.29. In prelims she was .03 shy of the mark with a 4:56.32.<\/p>\n<p>Punahou wrapped up the meet with a 400 freestyle relay win (3:30.53) with the team of Ng, Wen, Foster, and Whitty.<\/p>\n<p>Punnahou totaled 88 points for the state title. They were followed by Hawaii Preparatory Academy (43).<\/p>\n<h2>Men<\/h2>\n<p>Maryknoll&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Albert Zhi<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Edmund Shiu<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>MJ Mao<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Keenan Lee\u00a0<\/strong>set a state record in the 200 medley relay in 1:34.46. Mao set a state record of 1:49.02 in prelims of the 200 IM. The senior held on for the win in finals with a 1:52.54. In the 100 fly Mao touched a second and a half ahead of the field with a 47.61.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-Pacific Institute&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Petrides\u00a0<\/strong>topped the 200 free (1:37.46) and the 500 freestyle (4:28.91). His teammate\u00a0<strong>Dawson Sloan\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 freestyle in 45.20, just faster than Zhi (45.47) and Punahou&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tyler Kawakami\u00a0<\/strong>(45.63). In the 50 freestyle Sloan&#8217;s 21.12 put him ahead of Roosevelt High School teammates\u00a0<strong>Joseph Ahia\u00a0<\/strong>(21.36) and\u00a0<strong>Jun Yeub Yoon\u00a0<\/strong>(21.54).<\/p>\n<p>Kawakami,\u00a0<strong>Sean Kwon<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jake Gaughan<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Alika Naone\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:25.51 to win the 200 freestyle relay for Punahou.<\/p>\n<p>Iolani School senior\u00a0<strong>Jack Lee\u00a0<\/strong>raced to a 51.44 100 backstroke to take the state title in that event. Kwon finished second (52.04).<\/p>\n<p>Kamehameha Schools Kapalama sophomore teammates\u00a0<strong>Jaek Horner\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Kanoa Sawai\u00a0<\/strong>were first and second in the 100 breaststroke in 58.51 and 58.70. It was a tight battle behind them as\u00a0Ahia (58.94) and Shiu (58.98) were third and fourth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joar Berglund\u00a0<\/strong>of Hawaii Preparatory Academy\u00a0scored 448 points to secure the diving title.<\/p>\n<p>Punahou&#8217;s Gaughan, Kawakami,\u00a0<strong>Schuyler Cole<\/strong>, and Naone won the 400 freestyle relay for Punahou in 3:07.66.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, the men&#8217;s meet was a tighter battle with Punahou securing 44.5 points to Maryknoll&#8217;s 42 points and Mid-Pacific Institute&#8217;s 40.<\/p>\n<p><em>Full results available on Meet Mobile.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agon is the proud sponsor of all high school coverage (recruiting, results, state championships, etc.) on SwimmingWorld.com.
