ANN ARBOR, Michigan, April 24. THE No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team knocked off Gannon, 17-3, in the semifinal round of the CWPA Western Division Championship on Saturday morning (April 24) inside Canham Natatorium. <\/p>\n

Junior Sarah Roberts (Costa Mesa, Calif.\/Newport Harbor) tallied four goals as part of a five-point game to pace the Wolverines. Sophomore Claire Ivry (Orinda, Calif.\/Miramonte) had a playmaker (three assists) to go with a goal and senior Leah Robertson (Newport Beach, Calif.\/Newport Harbor) scored three first-period markers.<\/p>\n
Freshman Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif.\/Coronado) got the win, making two saves in the first half. Fifth-year senior Brittany May (Santa Barbara, Calif.\/Santa Barbara) and sophomore Morgan Turner (Mission Viejo, Calif.\/Trabuco Hills) split the second half, making three and four saves, respectively.<\/p>\n
Michigan's power play was clicking in the first period, converting three times as the Wolverines took a 6-1 lead. Robertson completed her hat trick on a counter attack midway through the frame. <\/p>\n
In the second frame, Roberts netted three markers while completely submersed in water except for her shooting arm, helping U-M hold a decisive 10-1 lead at halftime.<\/p>\n
Ivry dominated the second half, winning both sprints and tallying all four of her points. Turner was busy in the fourth period, making four saves as the Wolverines protected a 14-2 lead through the final eight minutes.
