Read more about all award-winners below.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Male Swimmer of the Week<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><strong>Shane Ryan, Penn State<br \/>\nSr. &#8211; Havertown, Pa. &#8211; Haverford<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Won three individual events for Penn State against Navy, breaking his own McCoy Natatorium record in the 100-yard freestyle by touching in 42.99 seconds<\/li>\n<li>Touched first in the 50-yard freestyle (19.76), 100-yard freestyle (42.99) and the 100-yard butterfly (48.01)<\/li>\n<li>Contributed to a first-place mark in the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:59.83), swimming the final leg to secure the come-from-behind victory and close out the meet<\/li>\n<li>Recorded NCAA B-cut qualifying times in all three of his individual events<\/li>\n<li>Earns his eighth career Swimmer of the Week honor<\/li>\n<li>Last Penn State Swimmer of the Week: Shane Ryan <strong>(Jan. 18, 2017)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Male Diver of the Week<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Steele Johnson, Purdue<br \/>\nSo. &#8211; Carmel, Ind. &#8211; Laurel Springs<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Swept the diving events in Purdue\u2019s dual meet against Indiana, scoring 393.90 in the one-meter event and 436.60 in the platform event<\/li>\n<li>Averaged 77.20 points per dive in the platform event and 71.40 points per dive on the one-meter springboard<\/li>\n<li>The 2015-16 Academic All-Big Ten honoree recorded NCAA Zone qualifying marks in both events<\/li>\n<li>Earns his 12th Diver of the Week award<\/li>\n<li>Last Purdue Diver of the Week: Steele Johnson (Dec. 23, 2016)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Male Freshman of the Week<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><strong>Kaelan Freund, Penn State<br \/>\nLethbridge, Alberta &#8211; Chinook<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recorded four first-place finishes to help Penn State defeat Navy in dual meet action<\/li>\n<li>Touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.10), 200-yard breaststroke (2:02.17) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:50.60)<\/li>\n<li>Recorded an NCAA B-cut qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.10)<\/li>\n<li>Contributed to a first-place mark in the 200-yard medley relay with times of 1:29.48<\/li>\n<li>Earns his third career Freshman of the Week honor<\/li>\n<li>Last Penn State Freshman of the Week: Kaelan Freund <strong>(Jan. 18, 2017)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Female Swimmer of the Week<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Liz Li, Ohio State<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Jr. &#8211; Shenyang, China<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collected four first-place finishes on the weekend, including a pair of victories at Michigan State and in Ohio State\u2019s meet against Akron and Pittsburgh<\/li>\n<li>Won the 50-yard freestyle (22.49) and the 100-yard butterfly at Michigan State (53.98) and against Akron and Pittsburgh (53.98)<\/li>\n<li>Contributed to a first-place result in the 200-yard medley relay at Michigan State with a time of 1:42.66<\/li>\n<li>Earns her third career Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award<\/li>\n<li>Last Ohio State Swimmer of the Week: Liz Li (Nov. 16, 2016)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Female Diver of the Week<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Olivia Rosendahl, Northwestern<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>So. &#8211; Los Angeles, Calif. &#8211; Immaculate Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Swept the diving events with a score of 292.10 on the one-meter springboard and 307.40 in the platform event in Northwestern\u2019s dual meet against Iowa<\/li>\n<li>Recorded NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both events<\/li>\n<li>Earns her third career Diver of the Week honor<\/li>\n<li>Last Northwestern Diver of the Week: Olivia Rosendahl (Oct. 26, 2016)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Female Freshman of the Week<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Hannah Burvill, Iowa<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Pyrford, Great Britain &#8211; Notre Dame Senior School, Cobham<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collected four first-place finishes in Iowa\u2019s dual-meet victory over conference rival Northwestern<\/li>\n<li>Touched first in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, recording times of 50.68 and 1:49.26, respectively<\/li>\n<li>Contributed to first-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay with times of 1:41.13 and 3:23.91, respectively<\/li>\n<li>Earns her third Freshman of the Week award<\/li>\n<li>Last Iowa Freshman of the Week: Hannah Burvill (Dec. 14, 2016)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Press releases courtesy of the Big Ten.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Penn State&#8217;s\u00a0Shane Ryan\u00a0earned yet another Big Ten Male Swimmer of the Week honor this week after a three-win effort against Navy.
