AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, March 25. THE first night of long course meter action at the Amsterdam Swim Cup featured some strong sprint events.<\/p>\n
Sarah Sjostrom touched out Femke Heemskerk, 1:58.41 to 1:58.81, in the women's 200 free. Both swimmers moved into the top 10 in the event this year. Inge Dekker took third overall in 1:59.58.<\/p>\n
Jason Dunford followed in the men's 50 fly with a winning effort of 23.91. He just held off Joeri Verlinden, who placed second in 23.95. The duo moved into seventh and eighth this year in the event. Robin van Aggele wound up third today in 24.13. <\/p>\n
Moniek Nijhuis topped the women's 50 breast with a 31.65 for the win. The time moved her into seventh in the world this year. She beat out Jennie Johansson, who claimed second overall and moved into eight in the world with a 31.71. Kersin Vogel earned third in 32.07. <\/p>\n
Lennart Stekelenburg won the men's 200 breast title in 2:15.65. Thijs van Valkengoed earned second in 2:16.95, while Federico Franciolini placed third in 2:18.56. Sarah Koehler claimed the women's 1500 free in 17:02.90, while Giulia de Fusco took second in 17:12.88. Julie Ann Wessler finished third in 17:33.06. <\/p>\n
Federico Turrini grabbed the men's 400 IM crown in 4:20.09. Simon Sjodin placed second in 4:21.52, while Ward Bauwens claimed third in 4:28.89. Hinkelien Schreuder snared the women's 50 back in 28.80. Jenny Mensing (29.63) and Anja van der Hout (29.88) completed the top three. <\/p>\n
