THE last night of short course yard action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Federal Way featured plenty of sectional records and a few more doubles.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado Stars&#39; Missy Franklin cruised to a sectional record in the women&#39;s 200 IM with a time of 1:57.70. That swim beat Megan Jendrick&#39;s 2007 mark of 1:58.30. KING&#39;s Andie Taylor placed second in 1:59.08, while Cascade&#39;s Amber McDermott earned third in 2:01.09. <\/p>\n<p>Tiger Sharks&#39; Jared Markham turned in a 1:48.85 to win the men&#39;s 200 IM. That clocking cleared the longstanding sectional record of 1:49.03 set by Jody Braden back in 1992. Boulder&#39;s Steve Schmuhl placed second in 1:50.18, while Corvallis&#39; Jacob Pebley wound up third in 1:50.83. <\/p>\n<p>McDermott bounced back in the women&#39;s 1650 free with a 16:13.76 to wipe out the sectional record of 16:23.14 set by Ashley Evans in 2007. Corvallis&#39; Jessie James took second in 16:38.82, while Denver&#39;s Paige Newell claimed third in 16:52.46. <\/p>\n<p>Markham doubled up with another sectional record, this time clocking a 15:21.68 in the men&#39;s 1650 free. That performance clipped the 15:21.76 set by David Pursley in 2005. Denver&#39;s Ben Holston took second in 15:25.86, while North Jeffco&#39;s Andrew Chevalier finished third in 15:47.71. <\/p>\n<p>Franklin doubled up as well with a 22.51 to win the women&#39;s 50 free. She came up short of the sectional record of 22.27 set by Inge De Bruijn in 1999. RallySport&#39;s Madeline Rovira finished second in 23.31, while Colorado Stars&#39; Caroline Piehl touched third in 23.41. <\/p>\n<p>Morgon Henderson-Kunz of the Thunderbolts won the men&#39;s 50 free in 20.47.
