BIELLA, Italy, March 14. IN a quick one-day short course competition, Federica Pellegrini took a pair of titles at the Italian Club Championships held in Biella.<\/p>\n
Pellegrini clocked a 54.40 to win the women's 100 free. Silvia Di Pietro placed second in 55.48, while Erica Buratto touched third in 55.87. Pellegrini doubled up with a 4:04.15 to win the women's 400 free. Alessia Filippi (4:10.26) and Rachele Bruni (4:13.74) placed second and third. <\/p>\n
Mattia Nalesso won the men's 100 fly title in 53.40, while Lorenzo Benatti (53.81) and Paolo Villa (53.88) finished second and third. Di Pietro topped the women's 50 fly in 26.65, while Elena Gemo and Cristina Maccagnola tied for second with matching 27.31s. <\/p>\n
Fabio Scozzoli earned the men's 100 breast crown in 59.97, while Daniele Cremonesi (1:00.09) and Luca Pizzini (1:00.76) rounded out the podium. Ombretta Plos won the women's 50 breast in 32.04. Sara Damiani (32.13) and Michela Guzzetti (32.55) took second and third.<\/p>\n
Marco Orsi held off Gianluca Maglia, 48.34 to 48.66, in the men's 100 free. Alessandro Calvi earned third in 49.32. Di Pietro doubled up with a 25.51 to win the women's 50 free. Buratto took second in 25.65, while Cristina Leanza wound up third in 25.81. <\/p>\n
Damiano Lestingi claimed the men's 100 back in 52.20, while Sebastiano Ranfagni (53.43) and Enrico Catalano (53.99) picked up second and third. Elisa Apostoli placed first in the women's 50 back with a 28.38. Gemo pocketed her second podium of the day with a second-place 28.59, while Stefania Cartapani earned third in 29.16. <\/p>\n
Cesare Sciocchetti snatched the men's 400 free title in 3:47.08, while Alex Di Giorgio (3:48.80) and Federico Turrini (3:49.04) completed the top three. Buratto knocked off Giacchetti, 2:15.45 to 2:15.92, to win the women's 200 IM. Alessia Filippi took third in 2:15.97. Rachele Bruni scored the women's 800 free crown in 8:34.85. Roberta Ioppi (8:40.54) and Laura Borghetti (8:45.35) finished second and third. <\/p>\n
Maccagnola touched out Giacchetti, 1:00.07 to 1:00.15, to win the women's 100 fly, while Beatrice Fassone finished third in 1:00.46. Marco Belotti closed to within a second of the Italian record in the men's 50 fly with a winning time of 23.98. Rudy Goldin took second in 24.19, while Mattia Nalesso earned third in 24.39. <\/p>\n
Sara Damiani topped the women's 100 breast in 1:08.27, while Ombretta Plos (1:08.89) and Michela Guzzetti (1:09.52) completed the podium. Scozzoli doubled up with a 27.28 to win the men's 50 breast. Pizzini (28.05) and Luca Residori (28.07) finished second and third. <\/p>\n
Orsi doubled up with a 22.05 in the men's 50 free. Bocchia (22.44) and Andrea Rolla (22.50) wound up second and third.
