CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts. March 13. BLUEFISH Swim Club took the title of Age Group Champion during the Short course yard championships at the MIT pool this past weekend. <\/p>\n
2008 Olympian and future Florida Gator Elizabeth Beisel from Bluefish took down a number of pool records on her way to winning four individual events. Beisel won the 100 back (53.96), 200 back (1:53.63), 200 fly (1:56.86), and the 400 IM (4:04.44), breaking pool records in all of those events. Two of her teammates, Alex Frasier and Bianca Spinazzola, also won events individually including the 100 free (51.35) and 200 IM (2:06.44) respectively. <\/p>\n
National Youth Team Member Eva Fabian from Greenwood Memorial Swim Club also had pool record breaking swims on her way to winning the 500 free (4:52.70) and 1000 free (9:52.79). Fabian also won the 1650 free (16:25.31). Teammate Taylor Stracham joined the list of record breaking swims by winning and breaking the pool record in the 100 fly (55.32). <\/p>\n
Other multiple event winners included Blake Ziegler from Rhody, who won the 50 free (23.82), and 200 free (1:51.25) and Sara Li from Mei's Typhoons won the 100 breast (1:04.78) and 200 breast (2:22.92). <\/p>\n
The Bluefish women swept the relays winning the 200 free relay (1:36.16), 400 free relay (3:28.02), 800 free relay (7:34.69), 200-medley relay (1:46.22), and 400-medley relay (3:55.47). Bluefish's winning times in the 400 and 800 free relays also lowered the pool record.<\/p>\n
Taylor Grey from Green Mountain Aquatics won three events individually including the 100 breast (56.44), 200 breast (2:01.89) that broke the pool record, and 200 IM (1:52.70). <\/p>\n
Luca Spinazzola from Bluefish won two events, including the 100 free (46.54) and 1650 free (15:26.30), breaking the pool record. Teammates Colby Dunn and Pat Meyers also won events individually. Dunn won the 50 free (21.39) while Meyer's won the 200 back (1:51.05) and 200 fly (1:51.37). <\/p>\n
Other multiple event winners included Christopher Inglis of Cape Cod Swim Club who won the 200 back (1:40.64) and broke a pool record in the 400 IM (4:02.35) and Michael Ubert from Greenwood Memorial who won the 500 free (4:34.43) and 1000 free (9:26.74). <\/p>\n
Also winning events was Hao Luong of Bernal's Gators Swim Club and Gabe Davis of Shawmut Aquatic Club. Luong won the 100 back (51.85) and Davis won the 100 fly (51.19). <\/p>\n
Like the women, the Bluefish men swept the relays, winning the 200 free relay (1:25.90), 400 free relay (3:08.57), 800 free relay (6:54.42), 200-medley relay (1:35.78), and 400-medley relay (3:28.54). The relay's time in the 400-medley relay also established another new pool record. <\/p>\n
The Bluefish won the championships with 1859 points, Greenwood Memorial came in second with 1382 points and Shawmut came in third with 1192.5 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
