{"id":236443,"date":"2017-01-10T09:07:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-10T16:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=236443"},"modified":"2017-01-10T09:07:26","modified_gmt":"2017-01-10T16:07:26","slug":"gusztav-bienerth-takes-over-as-president-of-hungarian-swimming-federation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/gusztav-bienerth-takes-over-as-president-of-hungarian-swimming-federation\/","title":{"rendered":"Guszt\u00e1v Bienerth Takes Over as President of Hungarian Swimming Federation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hungarian-swimming-president-tamas-gyarfas-resigns-amidst-criticism\/\" target=\"_blank\">resignation of Hungarian Swimming Federation President <strong>Tamas Gy\u00e1rf\u00e1s<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in late November,\u00a0<strong>Guszt\u00e1v Bienerth\u00a0<\/strong>has been elected to take his place, according to a report from\u00a0<em>Inside the Games<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Gy\u00e1rf\u00e1s faced heavy criticism during the last months at the helm of Hungary&#8217;s federation, most notably from Olympic gold medalists\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katinka-hosszu-calls-for-president-of-hungarian-swimming-federation-to-resign\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong><\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2012-gold-medalist-daniel-gyurta-admits-issues-with-hungarian-national-federation\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Daniel Gyurta<\/strong><\/a>, over poor training conditions and a lack of support for the country&#8217;s top athletes.<\/p>\n<p>Bienerth, currently the vice-chairman of the bid committee seeking to bring the 2024 Olympic Games to Hungary, will have a busy few months ahead of him as Hungary prepares to host the FINA World Championships this July in Budapest.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;There is a lot of work to do there. Thank you for your support.
