Meanwhile, a tri-meet in Christansburg, Va., was called off early due to weather, and the &#8220;Backyard Brawl&#8221; featured a pair of old Big East rivals.<\/p>\n<h3>Missouri at Louisville<\/h3>\n<p>Competing for the first time since her trip to the Short Course World Championships, Louisville sophomore\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 free (23.25), 100 free (49.60) and 200 free (1:48.72) and finished second in the 100 fly (54.97) over the two-day meet. She also led her team to wins in both the 200 and 400 free relay and 200 and 400 medley relays.<\/p>\n<p>Senior teammate\u00a0<strong>Andrea Cottrell<\/strong> won the 200 breast (2:11.84) and touched out Missouri&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katherine Ross<\/strong> to win the 100 breast, 1:00.87 to 1:00.88. Cottrell again edged Ross to win the 200 IM in 2:03.01, but Ross did have the edge in the 100 IM, 56.38 to 56.54.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alina Kendzior\u00a0<\/strong>swept the backstroke events, while teammate\u00a0<strong>Abbie Houck<\/strong> won the 200 fly and 500 free. Other Louisville winners included\u00a0<strong>Rachael Bradford-Feldman<\/strong> (400 IM) and\u00a0<strong>Grace Oglesby<\/strong> (100 fly), while\u00a0<strong>Kira Zubar<\/strong> won the 1000 free for Mizzou. Diving wins went to Missouri&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lauren Reedy<\/strong> (one-meter) and Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Molly Fears\u00a0<\/strong>(three-meter).<\/p>\n<p>With all four relays and all but three individual event victories, the Cardinal women crushed the Tigers, 249-123.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, Louisville pulled out a 224-147 triumph. The Cardinal men also won all four relays,\u00a0but the top individual performance came from Missouri senior\u00a0<strong>Michael Chadwick<\/strong>, who won the 100 free (43.64), 100 IM (49.64) and 50 free (20.04) and finished third in the 200 free (1:37.55).<\/p>\n<p>Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carlos Claverie\u00a0<\/strong>was productive against the Tigers with a dominant win in the 200 breast (1:57.35) before edging defending NCAA champion\u00a0<strong>Fabien Schwingenschlogl<\/strong> to win the 100 breast, 54.23 to 54.51. He wrapped up the meet with a 200 IM victory with a time of 1:48.97.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grigory Tarasevich\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 back (1:44.36) on Friday and then the 100 back (48.00) Saturday. His teammate\u00a0<strong>Marcelo Acosta<\/strong> won both the 500 (4:25.44) and 1000 free (9:09.37), and teammates\u00a0<strong>Jarrett Jones<\/strong> (400 IM),\u00a0<strong>Josh Quallen\u00a0<\/strong>(100 fly),\u00a0<strong>Trevor Carroll<\/strong> (200 free) and\u00a0<strong>Zach Harting<\/strong> (200 fly) also picked up first place finishes.<\/p>\n<p>Mizzou&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hunter Fritter\u00a0<\/strong>won men&#8217;s one-meter diving, and\u00a0teammate\u00a0<strong>Kyle Goodwin<\/strong> won the three-meter. Find full results by clicking <a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/missouri-louisville-results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Georgia Tech and Kentucky at Virginia Tech<\/h3>\n<p>Originally intended to be a two-day dual meet, winter weather conditions and the ensuing poor road conditions resulted in the cancellation of Saturday morning&#8217;s competition between the Yellow Jackets, Wildcats and Hokies. So the results from day one were final, with Kentucky sweeping both ACC rivals and Virginia Tech sweeping Georgia Tech.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, Kentucky edged VT 72-59 and crushed GT 99-32. VT beat Georgia Tech 95-36. The Kentucky men beat Virginia Tech 75-56, while the Wildcats beat the Yellow Jacket men 93-38. The score of the Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech men&#8217;s meet was almost identical, 92-39.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky won all but three individual events in the women&#8217;s meet. The 200 back featured a 1-2-3 sweep led by defending NCAA champion\u00a0<strong>Danielle Galyer<\/strong>, her freshman sister\u00a0<strong>Ali Galyer<\/strong> and U.S. national champion\u00a0<strong>Bridgette Alexander<\/strong>. But the Hokies did get wins from\u00a0<strong>Jessica Hespeler<\/strong> (1650 free, 16:48.20),\u00a0<strong>Klaudia Nazieblo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.14) and the women&#8217;s 400 free relay (3:23.82). For Georgia Tech,\u00a0<strong>Iris Wang<\/strong> won the 100 free in 50.46.<\/p>\n<p>The Hokie men got win out of\u00a0<strong>Robert Owen<\/strong> in the 200 back (1:44.82) and\u00a0<strong>Brandon Fiala<\/strong> in the 200 breast (2:00.04). In diving, Virginia Tech&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Schiesl<\/strong> won one-meter diving with a score of 343.05.\u00a0For Georgia Tech,\u00a0<strong>Rodrigo Castro\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 free (44.94). With a sweep of all four relays, the Pitt women won 205.5-94.5, and the Pitt men won by an even larger margin, 214-86.<\/p>\n<p>Pitt&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amanda Richey<\/strong> pulled off a quick turnaround to win the 1000 free (10:03.48) and 200 free (1:52.83) and then later returning to the pool to win the 500 free (4:57.52). Teammate\u00a0<strong>Emily Murphy<\/strong> completed the Pitt freestyle sweep with wins in the 50 (23.72) and 100 free (51.78).<\/p>\n<p>Pitt&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Valerie Daigneault<\/strong> swept the backstrokes and teammate\u00a0<strong>Kinga Cichowska<\/strong> the breaststroke events.\u00a0<strong>Morgan Bullock<\/strong> won both the 100 fly and 200 IM, and\u00a0<strong>Meme Sharp\u00a0<\/strong>swept the one and three-meter diving events.<\/p>\n<p>For the Pitt men,\u00a0<strong>Eben Vorster<\/strong> took home a trio of wins in the 200 fly (1:49.78), 100 fly (50.22) and 200 IM (1:51.94). Teammate\u00a0<strong>Boris\u00a0Kulizhnikov\u00a0<\/strong>picked up wins in both the 100 (57.02) and 200 breast (2:03.60), and diver\u00a0<strong>Dominic Giordano<\/strong> dominated one-meter (434.63) and three-meter diving (333.08).<\/p>\n<p>Full results are available <a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/pitt-wvu-results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Florida at Miami (women)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Gators dropped their in-state rival Hurricanes Saturday afternoon in a dominant effort. Miami won just a single event in swimming when\u00a0<strong>Angela Algee<\/strong> touched out Florida&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alyssa Yambor-Maul<\/strong>, 55.69 to 55.72, to win the 100 fly. Miami&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Wally Layland<\/strong> won one-meter diving with a score of 317.50, and her teammate\u00a0<strong>Marcela Maric<\/strong> took first in the three-meter event (355.20).<\/p>\n<p>Miami also got credit for two wins at the end of the meet after Florida began swimming all its races exhibition: in the women&#8217;s 200 IM with\u00a0<strong>Christina Leander<\/strong> (2:06.69) and in the 400 free relay (3:27.44). The final score of the meet was 180-115.
