NEW YORK – Organizers of the 1998 Goodwill Games are confident a major change in their approach to rewarding athletes will ensure superior fields and performances. The Games will offer $5 million in prize money, a record for a multi-sport event. The Games, scheduled for New York July 19-Aug. 2 next year, are expected to draw approximately 1,300 athletes from more than 70 countries.
