SASKATOON, Canada, February 20. THE third evening of short course meter swimming at the Speedo Western Championships featured a double by Chris Manning. Additionally, Chantal Vanlandeghem kept on rolling in what has become a signature meet for the 15 year old.<\/p>\n
Dagny Knutson won the women's 100 free title in 55.35, but Vanlandeghem, 15, trumped her in the 15-and-under heat with a sterling time of 55.13. Natasha Fung (55.70) and Sarah Sumner (55.81) took second and third in the open finale. Chris Manning followed in the men's 100 free with a winning time of 49.78. David Hibberd finished second in 50.13, while Daniel Blattler placed third in 50.63. Luke Peddie, 16, posted a 50.82 in the 16-and-under final.<\/p>\n
Lindsay Delmar dropped a 2:11.46 in the women's 200 fly for the victory, while Brenna MacLean placed second in 2:12.28. Daniella Szalkai touched third in 2:13.99. Karl Wolk picked up the men's 200 fly title in 2:01.75. Eric Anderson (2:04.81) and Ciara McDonnell (2:05.31) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
Deanne Matthews snatched the women's 200 back title in 2:09.02, while Brooklyn Snodgrass, 15, posted a 2:09.27 in the 15-and-under heat. Jessica Plant placed second in 2:11.55 in the open final, while Knutson grabbed a second podium with a third-place 2:11.77. Braeden Newton and Wolk put on a show in the men's 200 back with Newton winning, 2:00.26 to 2:00.67. James McQuade joined the show with a 2:00.74 for third.<\/p>\n
Tiann Rissling posted a 31.34 to win the women's 50 breast, while Rachel Nicol took second in 32.07. Bronwyn Pasloski placed third in 32.22. Manning doubled up with a 28.73 to win the men's 50 breast. Chris Tobin (28.98) and Richard Funk (29.61) placed second and third.<\/p>\n
Fung garnered her second podium with a winning time of 4:14.29. Delmar placed second in 4:14.59, while Sumner wound up third in 4:14.95 in what proved to be an exciting race in the women's 400 free. Chad Bobrosky cruised in the men's 400 free with a 3:51.40. James Kendrick took second in 3:53.51, while Tom Krywitsky finished third in 3:58.73. <\/p>\n
