Austin, Texas, February 9. THE United States Olympic Committee (USOC), in conjunction with USA Diving, has selected University of Texas diving coach Matt Scoggin as the 2009 USOC National Diving Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n
Now in his 16th season at Texas, Scoggin's divers flourished at the collegiate, national and international levels last year. Sophomore Drew Livingston captured the one-meter event and took second in the platform event at the 2009 NCAA Championships, where Texas-Ex Jonathan Wilcox added a fifth-place finish in the one-meter event. Texas-Exes Jessica Livingston and Kathryn Kelly and UT sophomore Shelby Cullinan collectively secured five All-America finishes at the 2009 NCAA Championships.<\/p>\n
Last summer under Scoggin's tutelage, Texas-Ex Troy Dumais won two silver medals at the FINA World Championships in Rome, and Drew Livingston claimed his first U.S. national title in the platform event. Dumais went on to secure his 30th U.S. national title last weekend at the 2010 USA Diving Winter National Championships. <\/p>\n
A former All-America diver himself at Texas, Scoggin received the 2009 Ted Keller Diving Honor from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) last October.<\/p>\n
