COLUMBUS, Ohio, February 8. KELCI Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) picked up her second title this week and Michael Wright (Forest Park, Ill.) won his first career title as the USA Diving Winter National Championships wrapped up with 1-meter events on Monday.<\/p>\n
Bryant scored 294.70 points to claim the 1-meter title a day after pairing with Christina Loukas for a win in synchronized 3-meter.<\/p>\n
Bryant now has seven career national titles, including two on 1-meter. Her highest scoring dive came in the second round, when she scored 62.40 points on her front 2 \u00bd pike.<\/p>\n
"I was focused on executing what my coach told me," said Bryant, a 2008 Olympian. "The major thing I need to work on is being patient. I tend to get a little excited."<\/p>\n
Brittney Feldman (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished second with 290.10 points, and Kassidy Cook (The Woodlands, Texas) scored 284.70 points for third.<\/p>\n
After finishing third in the preliminaries, Wright captured the men's 1-meter event with 396.00 points, highlighted by 72 points on his reverse 2 \u00bd tuck in the fourth round.<\/p>\n
"I went in very confident and on top of my event," he said. "Three-meter wasn't my event (earlier this week), and I wanted to put it behind me."<\/p>\n
David Bonuchi (Columbia, Mo.) scored 360 points for the silver, and Wes Wieser (Chesterfield, Mo.) took bronze with 354.90 points.<\/p>\n
In all, 10 national titles were awarded throughout the five-day competition.<\/p>\n
