Drew Kibler, Reece Whitley,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Isabel Ivey\u00a0<\/strong>grab top seeds to set themselves up for additional championship golds at the fourth and final day of the 2016 Speedo Winter Junior Championships East.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Back:<\/h3>\n

Alex Walsh\u00a0<\/strong>of Nashville Aquatic Club turned in the top qualifying time in prelims of the women’s 200 backstroke. Walsh stopped the clock at a 1:55.13 to return in lane four for tonight’s finals.<\/p>\n

Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Madison Homovich\u00a0<\/strong>took second in prelims with a time of 1:56.12, followed closely by SwimMAC’s\u00a0Julia Menkhaus’\u00a0<\/strong>1:56.57.<\/p>\n

Abigail Wilder\u00a0<\/strong>of the Bolles School qualified fourth overall with a 1:56.61, while Ridgefield Aquatics’\u00a0Marcella Maguire<\/strong> took sixth with a 1:56.88.<\/p>\n

SwimMac’s\u00a0Sinclair Larson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.95), Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Kathleen Moore<\/strong> (1:57.13), and SwimMAC’s\u00a0Stephanie Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:57.21) return as sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Back:<\/h3>\n

Clark Beach\u00a0<\/strong>of Quest Swimming posted the top time of the morning in the men’s 200 backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:43.36.<\/p>\n

Pleasantville’s\u00a0Destin Lasco\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the second place seed with a 1:44.63, followed by\u00a0Zachary Poti’s\u00a0<\/strong>1:45.04.<\/p>\n

Nicolas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>of Cardinal Aquatics qualified fourth with a 1:45.55, while Delaware Swim Team’s\u00a0Jacob Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth with a 1:45.78.<\/p>\n

Cincinnati Marlins’\u00a0Justin Grender<\/strong>, Quest Swimming’s\u00a0Ethan Beach\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.24), and Ridgefield Aquatics’\u00a0Kieran Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.39) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Free:<\/h3>\n

Isabel Ivey\u00a0<\/strong>of Gator Swim Club set herself up for another championship gold medal with the top qualifying time in prelims of the women’s 100 free. Ivey posted a 48.60 to be the only swimmer beneath the 49-second mark.<\/p>\n

Greater Tampa’s\u00a0Morgan Tankersley\u00a0<\/strong>flirted with a sub-49 second swim, stopping the clock at a 49.01 for the second place seed, while Carmel’s\u00a0Kelly Pash\u00a0<\/strong>took third in prelims with a time of 49.79.<\/p>\n

Teammate\u00a0Gertrude Rothrock\u00a0<\/strong>picked up the fourth place seed with a time of 49.98, followed by Southwest Stars’\u00a0Kaitlyn Schorr\u00a0<\/strong>(50.01).<\/p>\n

Condors Swim Club’s\u00a0Christiana Regenauer<\/strong> (50.08), Carmel’s\u00a0Emma Nordin\u00a0<\/strong>(50.14), and South Florida’s\u00a0Kathleen Golding\u00a0<\/strong>(50.14) completed the top eight qualifiers.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Free:<\/h3>\n

Drew Kibler<\/strong> of Carmel put himself within range of the 15-16 NAG record of the 100 free with a top qualifying time of 42.99. The current NAG record is a 42.67 set in 2013 by\u00a0Ryan Hoffer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

John Walker<\/strong> of SwimMAC picked up the second place seed with a time of 43.96, followed by Mississippi Makos’\u00a0Blaise Vera’s\u00a0<\/strong>44.33.<\/p>\n

The Bolles School’s\u00a0Willie Davis\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the fourth place seed with a time of 44.45, just ahead of a tie between Zionsville’s\u00a0Jack Franzman\u00a0<\/strong>and Bolles’\u00a0Ariel Spektor<\/strong>. The two posted matching times of 44.50.<\/p>\n

Andrew Loy\u00a0<\/strong>of Ohio State and\u00a0Cody Bybee\u00a0<\/strong>of Dayton Raiders were seventh and eighth with qualifying times of 44.57 and 44.65.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Breast:<\/h3>\n

Nashville Aquatic Club’s\u00a0Allison Raab\u00a0<\/strong>took the top seed with a time of 2:11.31, followed closely by Lakeside’s\u00a0Brooke Forde<\/strong> (2:11.60) and\u00a0Nashville Aquatic Club’s\u00a0Ella Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.71).<\/p>\n

Ashley McCauley<\/strong> of Marlins of Raleigh posted a 2:12.04 to qualify fourth, just ahead of SwimMAC’s\u00a0Jane Donahue’s\u00a0<\/strong>2:12.19.<\/p>\n

Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Abigail Arens<\/strong> (2:13.32), Y- Spartaquatics’\u00a0Sydney Baker<\/strong> (2:13.57), and Cardinal Community’s\u00a0Emily Weiss<\/strong> (2:13.88) were sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Breast:<\/h3>\n

Reece Whitley\u00a0<\/strong>of Penn Charter topped the competition in prelims of the men’s 200 breaststroke, stopping the clock at a 1:55.23. Whitley, 16, is the current NAG record holder in the event with a 1:53.66 from 2015.<\/p>\n

Mason Manta Rays’\u00a0Jacob Foster\u00a0<\/strong>took the second place seed with a 1:58.58, followed by Delaware Swim Team’s\u00a0Matthew Otto’s\u00a0<\/strong>1:59.69.<\/p>\n

Andrew Bornstein<\/strong>, swimming unattached, turned in a 1:59.72 for fourth, just ahead of Crimson Aquatics’\u00a0Calvin Yang\u00a0<\/strong>and his time of 2:00.27.<\/p>\n

Bolles’\u00a0Paul Degrado\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.29), Lakeside’s\u00a0Keefer Barnum\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.81), and Dynamo’s\u00a0Jonathan Yang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.86) posted sixth through eighth place finishes.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Fly:<\/h3>\n

Olivia Carter\u00a0<\/strong>of Enfinity Aquatics touched first in prelims of the women’s 200 fly with a 1:56.27, followed by a trio of 1:58’s.<\/p>\n

Highlander Aquatics’\u00a0Carley Lowe\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the second place seed with a 1:58.61, just ahead of Dynamo’s\u00a0Jade Foelske<\/strong> (1:58.71) and SwimMAC’s\u00a0Julia Menkhaus<\/strong> (1:58.98).<\/p>\n

Tristen Ulett<\/strong> of Dynamo Swim Club took fifth in prelims with a 1:59.16, while Asheville’s\u00a0Mary Soule\u00a0<\/strong>was sixth with a 1:59.28.<\/p>\n

Lakeside’s\u00a0Brooke Forde<\/strong> and SwimAtlanta’s\u00a0Devan Sweeney\u00a0<\/strong>completed the top eight qualifiers with times of 1:59.57 and 1:59.63 respectively.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Fly:<\/h3>\n

Michigan Lakeshore’s\u00a0Spencer Carl\u00a0<\/strong>took the first place seed in prelims of the men’s 200 fly with a time of 1:44.93, while Cardinal Aquatics’\u00a0Nicolas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>touched second with a 1:45.10.<\/p>\n

Mason Wilby\u00a0<\/strong>of Gator Swim Club was third in prelims with a time of 1:46.77, followed by Soundview YMCA’s\u00a0Corey Gambardella’s\u00a0<\/strong>1:46.89.<\/p>\n
