Worrell became the first woman to post a sub-25 second swim in the event during prelims, but as is the case with any 50-meter race the final win could be anyone&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100 individual medley hosts a variety of talent as young gun\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the USA fights for a chance on the podium with veterans\u00a0<strong>Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Shinri Shioura<\/strong> of Japan, plus world record holder\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> of Russia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>of Hungary will look to defend her 100 individual medley title in finals. Hosszu enters finals with a seed time just over a second faster than the field.<\/p>\n<p>Distance ace\u00a0<strong>Leah Smith<\/strong> of the USA set herself up for a run at a second gold medal with a top showing in prelims of the women&#8217;s 400 freestyle. Smith enters finals with a seed time of 4:00.47, the only sub-4:01 swim from the morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vladimir Morozov <\/strong>of Russia\u00a0returns as the top seed in the men&#8217;s splash and dash, but will have to fend off the speed of Lithuania&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Simonas Bilis<\/strong> (21.15) and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Luca Dotto<\/strong> (21.29) en route to the finish.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Junya Koga\u00a0<\/strong>successfully lowered the Asian Record in the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke twice yesterday (first in semi-finals of the individual event, before leading off the mixed relay in record style).
