Women’s 500 Free<\/h3>\n
Greater Tampa’s\u00a0Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> pulled away from Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Madison Homovich<\/strong> down the stretch and ended up cruising in to win the meet’s first individual event. Tankersley touched in 4:38.13, the only time under 4:40, to win by almost three seconds.<\/p>\nHomovich finished second in 4:40.90, and Tennessee Aquatics’\u00a0Erica Lanning<\/strong> was third in 4:46.16, just ahead of the Fish’s\u00a0Madelyn Donohoe<\/strong>, who came in at 4:46.51, and Tampa Bay’s\u00a0Christin Rockway<\/strong>, who finished in 4:46.80.<\/p>\nTriangle’s\u00a0Ana Pozder<\/strong> (4:46.88), Ohio State’s\u00a0Molly Kowal<\/strong> (4:47.80) and PACK’s\u00a0Lindsay Stone\u00a0<\/strong>(4:47.81) also qualified for the top eight.<\/p>\nMen’s 500 Free<\/h3>\n
Carmel’s\u00a0Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>pulled away from Baylor’s\u00a0Robert Freeman<\/strong> and Upper Dublin’s\u00a0Jake Sannem<\/strong> to take first place in the 500 free. Kibler, who broke a 15-16 National Age Group record Wednesday night in the 200 free, posting a time of 1:33.36 leading off Carmel’s 800 free relay, broke another tonight as he touched in 4:15.36, breaking\u00a0Matthew Hirschberger’s\u00a0<\/strong>2015 time of 4:16.43. The time was also a new Junior Nationals meet record.<\/p>\nFreeman took second in 4:16.99, and Sannem was third in 4:19.34. Fourth place went to Red Bank’s\u00a0Christopher Smith<\/strong> (4:21.91), and Scarlet’s\u00a0Johannes Calloni<\/strong> was fifth in 4:22.51.<\/p>\nAlso competing in the “A” final were Ridgefield’s\u00a0Kieran Smith<\/strong> (4:22.67), Cincinnati Marlins’\u00a0Justin Grender<\/strong> (4:24.45) and Charter Oak’s\u00a0Joshua Wroblewski<\/strong> (4:28.14).<\/p>\nWomen’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n
Nashville Aquatic Club’s\u00a0Alex Walsh\u00a0<\/strong>posted a big swim to pick up top honors in the women’s 200 IM as the 15-year-old knocked off two big names in Lakeside’s\u00a0Brooke Forde<\/strong> and Gator Swim Club’s\u00a0Isabel Ivey\u00a0<\/strong>and won the race by more than a bodylength.<\/p>\nWalsh finished in 1:54.48, just off\u00a0Dagny Knutson’s<\/strong> 15-16 NAG record of 1:54.03 but good for a new meet record. Forde finished second in a strong 1:55.55, and third place went to Ivey in 1:57.19.<\/p>\nCarmel’s\u00a0Kelly Pash<\/strong> took fourth in 1:58.30, just ahead of SwimMAC’s Caroline Hauder\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.41), Carmel’s\u00a0Samantha Burchill\u00a0<\/strong>(1:58.45), Nashville’s\u00a0Allie Raab<\/strong> (1:58.67) and Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Julia Poole<\/strong> (1:59.15).<\/p>\nMen’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n
Cardinal Aquatic Club’s Nicolas Albiero<\/strong> held a substantial lead at the halfway point, but Penn Charter’s\u00a0Reece Whitley<\/strong>\u00a0ran him down on the breaststroke leg and cruised home to a two-second win. Whitley touched in 1:43.93, just over a second off\u00a0Michael Andrew’s<\/strong> 15-16 NAG record of 1:42.77.<\/p>\nAlbiero held on for second in 1:45.63, and third went to Bolles’\u00a0Ariel Spektor<\/strong> in 1:46.57.<\/p>\nEastern Express’\u00a0Connor Doyle<\/strong> finished fourth in 1:47.82, and Mason Manta Rays’\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong> came in next at 1:47.88. Rounding out the top eight were Foster’s teammate\u00a0Jacob Foster<\/strong> (1:48.28), Gulliver’s\u00a0Miguel Cancel<\/strong> (1:48.55) and Blue Dolphin’s\u00a0John Fulginiti<\/strong> (1:48.70).<\/p>\nWomen’s 50 Free<\/h3>\n
Westchester Aquatic Club’s\u00a0Kate Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>blasted a 22.04 to win the women’s 50 free, matching\u00a0Simone Manuel’s<\/strong> 15-16 girls’ NAG record that was previously set in 2013. Douglass, 15, was victorious in the race by four tenths of a second over Gator’s\u00a0Isabel Ivey<\/strong>, who picked up her second podium finish of the night when she touched in 22.44.<\/p>\nMarlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Grace Countie<\/strong> finished third in 22.54. Gator’s\u00a0Talia\u00a0<\/strong>Bates\u00a0<\/strong>(22.64) and Greater Tampa’s\u00a0Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> (22.70) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.<\/p>\nOhio State Swim Club’s\u00a0Miranda Donley<\/strong> (22.80) and Southwest Stars’\u00a0Kaitlyn Schorr\u00a0<\/strong>(22.81). Nashville’s\u00a0Alex Walsh<\/strong>, returning form the 200 IM for a second event of the night, was disqualified after initially touching sixth.<\/p>\nMen’s 50 Free<\/h3>\n
Carmel Swim Club’s\u00a0Drew Kibler<\/strong> won his second event of the night as he led a group of four men under the 20-second barrier in the 50 free. Kibler posted a time of 19.70, just off the 19.66 he clocked in prelims, for the overall win.<\/p>\nZionsville’s\u00a0Jack Franzman<\/strong> finished second in 19.81, Bolles’\u00a0Willie Davis\u00a0<\/strong>got third in 19.92, and Davis’ teammate\u00a0Isaac Davis<\/strong> took fourth in 19.93. Competing in lane eight, Davis pounded the water in excitement at the finish after seeing he had broken 20 for the first time.<\/p>\nSwimMAC’s\u00a0John Walker<\/strong> was fifth in 20.10, followed by teammate\u00a0William Chan<\/strong> (20.44), SOLO Aquatics’\u00a0Matthew Yish<\/strong> (20.48) and Cincinnati Marlins’\u00a0Justin Grender<\/strong> (20.81).<\/p>\nWomen’s 400 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n
Nashville Aquatic Club won the women’s medley by more than a second to round out the women’s competition on night two.\u00a0Alex Walsh<\/strong> (52.67),\u00a0Allie Raab<\/strong> (1:01.37),\u00a0Ella Nelson<\/strong> (55.51) and\u00a0Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> combined to post a time of 3:38.11.<\/p>\nFinishing second was SwimMAC’s squad of\u00a0Julia Menkhaus<\/strong>,\u00a0Caroline Hauder<\/strong>,\u00a0Sophie Lindner<\/strong> and\u00a0Heidi Lowe<\/strong> in 3:39.21. Gator Swim Club’s foursome of\u00a0Caitlin Brooks<\/strong>,\u00a0Isabel Ivey<\/strong>,\u00a0Talia Bates<\/strong> and\u00a0Kirschtine Balbuena<\/strong> finished third in 3:39.71.<\/p>\nSwimAtlanta (3:39.92), SwimMAC’s “B” team (3:40.03), Carmel (3:40.18), Cardinal Aquatics (3:41.31) and Marlins of Raleigh (3:42.52) finished in the top eight.<\/p>\n

The Bolles School Sharks dominated the men’s medley relay as\u00a0Matthew Serra<\/strong> (49.48),\u00a0James Daugherty\u00a0<\/strong>(53.85),\u00a0Ariel Spektor<\/strong> (47.07) and\u00a0Willie Davis<\/strong> (43.50) combined to swim a time of 3:13.90 to win the race by almost four seconds.<\/p>\nZionsville finished second with\u00a0Tyler Harmon<\/strong>,\u00a0Brock Brown<\/strong>,\u00a0Andrew Schuler<\/strong> and\u00a0Jack Franzman<\/strong> posting a time of 3:17.79.
