{"id":232429,"date":"2016-12-07T16:40:27","date_gmt":"2016-12-07T23:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=232429"},"modified":"2016-12-07T17:05:06","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T00:05:06","slug":"u-s-women-break-world-record-dominate-womens-200-medley-relay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-women-break-world-record-dominate-womens-200-medley-relay\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Women Break SCM World Record, Dominate Women&#8217;s 200 Medley Relay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States dominated the women&#8217;s 200 medley relay from start to finish, winning by more than two seconds and crushing the world record.\u00a0<strong>Ali DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>(26.12),\u00a0<strong>Lilly King<\/strong> (28.78),\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> (24.44) and\u00a0<strong>Katrina Konopka<\/strong> (23.93) combined to swim a time of 1:43.27, breaking the previous world record of 1:44.04 set by Denmark two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The win marks the second U.S. gold medal of the meet after Worrell led the women&#8217;s 400 free relay squad to a gold last night.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Silvia Scalia<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Martina Carraro<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Silvia Di Pietro<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Erika Ferraioli<\/strong> took silver in 1:45.38, and Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mie Nielsen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Matilde Schroeder<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Emilie Beckmann<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> got the bronze in 1:45.98.<\/p>\n<p>Canada finished fourth, just out of the medals, in 1:46.00, and Australia was next in 1:46.27.
