THE first day of long course meter swimming at the Euro Meet held in Luxembourg featured nothing but events that most swimmers try to talk themselves out of.  The women&#39;s 800 free, men&#39;s 1500 free, 400 IMs and 200 flies were all on the docket today.<\/p>\n<p>Isabelle Harle topped the women&#39;s 800 free in a time of 8:46.64, while Giorgia Consiglio finished second in 8:50.52. Franziska Jansen completed the top three in 8:53.17. Heerden Herman followed with a winning effort of 15:30.84 in the men&#39;s 1500 free. Sergiy Frolov placed second in 15:43.41, while Valerio Cleri claimed third in 15:56.06.<\/p>\n<p>The 400 IMs were next in what proved to be an ironman day of swimming. Nina Schiffer won the women&#39;s 400 IM with a 4:51.93, while Rieneke Terink took second in 4:52.72. Adeline Martin wound up third in 4:56.62. Yannick Lebherz surfaced victorious in the men&#39;s 400 IM with a 4:24.77. Denys Dubrov finished second in 4:27.00 with Raphael Stacchiotti picking up third in 4:27.16. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, the 200 flies concluded the first day of events that most people dread swimming. Franziska Hentke won the women&#39;s race in 2:14.85. Katharina Schiller took second in 2:17.94 with Elena Sheridan earning third in 2:20.41. Christophe Lebon touched first in the men&#39;s 200 fly with a 2:01.24.
