{"id":231841,"date":"2016-12-04T19:15:11","date_gmt":"2016-12-05T02:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=231841"},"modified":"2016-12-04T19:15:11","modified_gmt":"2016-12-05T02:15:11","slug":"big-ten-recap-strong-swims-for-indiana-minnesota","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/big-ten-recap-strong-swims-for-indiana-minnesota\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Ten Recaps: Strong Swims for Indiana, Minnesota"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Dan D\u2019Addona.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Indiana University men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming teams ended the Miami (Ohio) Invitational on a high note, winning three events.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 200-yared butterfly, <strong>Brian Valedon<\/strong> won in an NCAA &#8220;B&#8221; cut time of 1:46.71.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joey Snodderly<\/strong> earned the win in the 1,650 freestyle with a NCAA B cut time of 15:18.08.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shelby Koontz<\/strong> tallied the Hoosiers&#8217; third win, touching the wall first in the 100 freestyle with a personal-best and NCAA &#8220;B&#8221; cut time of 49.98.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the full results <a href=\"http:\/\/sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com\/iuhoosiers.com\/documents\/2016\/12\/3\/2016_miami_invite_results.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Minnesota shines at home invite<\/h3>\n<p>The Minnesota women scored two diving wins at the Jean Freeman Invitational. <strong>Yu Zhou<\/strong> scored 349.70 to win 1-meter ahead of teammates <strong>Sarah Bacon<\/strong> (326.50) and <strong>Beth Etterman<\/strong> (267.30). L<strong>exi Tenenbaum<\/strong> won platform with a score of 322.50.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chantal Nack<\/strong> won the 200 back in 1:55.43. Nack posted a 1:48.06 for first in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Madison Preiss<\/strong> (personal-record 2:00.85), <strong>Dani Bergeson<\/strong> (2:02.19) and <strong>Maggie Werba<\/strong> (2:06.75) went 1-2-3 in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s meet,<strong> Matt Barnard<\/strong> scored 441.68 on the 3-meter diving board for a dominant victory.<strong> Alan LeBlang<\/strong> was second at 377.05.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick Plachinski<\/strong> (personal-record 4:25.00) and <strong>Justin Torres<\/strong> (4:33.39) claimed the top two spots in the 500 free. <strong>Brian<\/strong> <strong>Poon<\/strong> (1:48.17) and <strong>Jonathon Thielen<\/strong> (1:49.94) went 1-2 in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the full results <a href=\"http:\/\/grfx.cstv.com\/photos\/schools\/minn\/sports\/w-swim\/auto_pdf\/2016-17\/box_score\/stats_20161203aaa.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Dan D\u2019Addona.
